Um, yeah rehab sucks.I was, for all intent and purpose, raised in rehabs. Straight,Scenic Mountain Medical Center, Glenwood, Clearview, Culver youth home, LCCF, etc, etc
And that was before I developed a drug problem.
Why not get the treatment out of the way first eh?
All of these programs are strange in their own way...some more than others.
Oddly enough..one of my fondest memories was of a time in rehab..this was a rehab that had rooms to rival any hilton and offered librium and the like practically on request. Smoking was allowed, freezer full of ice cream,Co ed... ping pong tables.
The place was nice and I was finally away from my sick family.
For the most part,most treatment centers arent really abusive. Was I held against my will? Yes. But not abused. Im not talking about straight here..
Straight was the exception to the rule.But out of the 11 or so treatment centers I have been to..only Straight was abusive.
One thing that we did not have in te 70s and 80s was this glorious cornucopia of information we call the internet.
Now everyone can have a voice...in the 70s and 80s you had to rely on newspapers and Television..and whomever controlled them.
Perpetrators like Newton and the Semblers cannot operate in the dumb silence that once was.
It will be exposed...at light speed.
Had there been an internet starting in 1969 would synanon/seed/straight/safe been able to operate and develop under the public eye?
