I am sorry the bord has gotten off topic and flooded with unwanted and unwelcome Christian thought and Biblical quoats.
I have always acknowledged this is not a Christian board and dosn't want to be.

I have occassionally offered to debate and discuss such topics privately. I never take offence at being disagred with; but I am offended by the reaction of some lately  and would not want to be called names or curssed at. In return I wouldn't call 'you' names; but I'd like to renew the offer - to anyone who is interested and enjoys the give and take of thoughtful debate - write me.

As for the unwanted Christanity on Fornits - I understand - but when you bring up the subject your going to get responces and some will be from Christians.

If you want to disect ALA your going to have to deal with a lot of Christians.

I'd like to also express my deep distress when learning how often so called Christain programs were extreamly cold, mean and punitive in natue - and even in some cases severly abusive. It is extreamly upsetting, as a Christian, to be so horribly misrepresented and to think kids are treated in such a mannor in Christ's name. I do assure you, our Lord dose not approve. I could quote scripture - but I wont.

ALA, is not the kind of Christain program mentioned above. I would be as rabidly opposed to them as some of you if it were; and I am the one person on Fornits most likely to know if such were the case. But I don't mean to start another ALA thread. There are plenty (and apparently to many) as it is.

Nor do I want or intend for this to become another thread for argument and 'flooding.'

I just wanted to express these thoughts and renew my offer(private conversation and debate) I promise to otherwise drop the subject if you guys will.

I can't speak for others, an I expect if you keep on Bible burning; others will keep on Thumping.

God's Peace

Should teens have the right to decide for themselves if they want to be "born again" (bold)before being committed by their parents into a faith-based school or program? Absolutely. It's called freedom of religion.

Guess you know what I think of parents who shove christianity down the throats of their children all the while proclaiming what "good, responsible parents" they are."

This is what I was refering to.  I have no problem with an open debate, public or private...but this is just annoying.

Karen you do not know what goes on in the program.  All you know is what you have been told.

Tell this board how many hours you personally have spent on all of the ALA campuses?

I don't even object so much to the verse references. They're not responsive to the direct questions. But then, a lot of the discussion around here is like that. And that speaks volumes in itself of the person who's giving non answers and, in the absence of any valid answers, of the positions they hold.

What I won't have is long, pages and pages of the same or very similar posts that are non responsive to the discussion. Doesn't make a difference to me whether it's angry rants from Nazi, large inline images, ads for get rich quick scams or Bible quotes. When it gets to the point where people have to spend and inordinate amount of time skimming through a bunch of unsolicited junk in order to find the posts that are part of the discussion, that's a tactic often used to shut down a server.

As for Biblical discussion and quotes, just look around, it happens all the time around here.

A drug is neither moral nor immoral - it's a chemical compound. The compound itself is not a menace to society until a human being treats it as if consumption bestowed a temporary license to act like an asshole.

Look, as the resident atheist here who enjoys  debating religion, I will directly tell you religious references are not the problem. SPAMMing is the problem. You want to talk about religion go ahead, but don't start answering well thought out questions and responses with cut and paste christian bullshit.

Plain and simple.

http://www.levitt.com/

This is a book stoer operated by Zola Levit ministries.
The books cover a wide range of topics and are very reasonably priced.
Anyone toying with the idea of 'reading up' would find this a good place to start.
