Getting fucked by the IRS

Thanks to freelance, I owe over a grand this year.

It's times like these when I seriously reconsider my liberal beliefs.

ever think of making your self incorporated?  Alot more write offs that way, or even to make your self into a corporation would help.
Its a pretty simple process and would help the flow ($) alot more.
I dont know how freelance works but, there must be a way you can make it into a small business.  Still a thousand thats it?? be thankfull my man, you could have paid what i did. upwards of 10 grand this year, but i also have 4 employee's. and i have to match all taxes that come out of their checks and mine.  Plus the regular b.s.  Coulda been more but i have an awesome accountant.
But if you dont pay taxes your not making money.
I just wish we could pick where our taxes go.

Yeah, Syn, I know there's bigger worries in the world.  Still, I'm far from rich -- I made about $42K last year and my wife made far less -- and we live in an expensive area -- nothing's cheap here.  We're still blessed though.

The bad thing is, I'm now going to be paying it off with interest in a time when I'm getting virtually zero freelance work to help.  I guess I learned the lesson -- save a little under a third for tax purposes.

It was just a steady stream of articles I did for a business publication.  Hey, you gotta freelance when you want to fly across the country and buy your wife a pearl Tiffany's bracelet for Christmas!

What's the process to incorporate yourself?

its not about being rich, its about living comfortable and STICKIN IT TO THE MAN!!1 lol just saw school of rock, Jack Black was made to do that flik.  Any way a good lawyer and reading up on the above could save you a ton of loot man. Plus living where your ends ($) work out better helps too. Good luck.

Thanks Pete.  Seriously its worth it. Check into it as much as you can.  I know your a busy guy, but think about the money, and with the money comes happy wives, cause you'll spend more on them which will get them off your back.
