Agreed.  Any place is appropriate.  However, there are a few things like the sign that need to be done to make it a more effective demonstration.  Burning Miller Newton in effigy, a penis pump shaped homecoming-style float, and a bunch of people reenacting a bust ass rap complete with misbehavers being sat on are a few suggestions.  Sales of Miller Newton dartboards and pistol targets could raise awareness and money at the same time.  Perhaps a moment of silence followed by a reading of the list of names of Straight suicides over a bullhorn.

No, I don't think it's inappropriate to protest any location or organization if there's a good reason to protest.

I know that the BOD of this particular Holocaust Museum have been provided ample documentation and numerous requests to remove Straight founders and former officers from their roles. They have ignored these requests. Apparently, the people who run the Florida Holocaust Museum don't have a problem w/ being represented by unrepentant child abusers. To my mind, they're not really such great humanitarians. They're just exploiting the Holocaust to make themselves seem like good people. I think that's something that needs to be exposed and examined.

I do have a problem, though, w/ referring to treatment at Straight as a holocaust. That's inaccurate. Most of us are still alive. If it had been a holocaust, most of us would be dead and only a few would be around to tell the tale.

I do think that, if the drug warriors have their way, a holocaust is very likely in the offing. They scapegoat a different class of people than the oldschool Nazis did. But totalism is totalism and there is no other possible outcome, except to end the war on people who engage in unauthorized euphoria.

"

I'm not sure that was an oversight. The idea is to get the media and passers by to ask questions. I think this should fill the bill.

Ok, I see the sign in context with the others now.  Thanks for the pics. Thanks to all the demonstrators.  Maybe if we have a little better advance notice the attendance could be greater at the next one.  Also, there's gotta be some radical rabbis in St. Pete that would back us on the hypocracy of it--anyone contacted any?  Maybe I'll convert to Orthodox Judaism for the weekend next time so I can show up in a yarmulke.  Anybody given any thought to a benefit for Ray's legal expenses?  There's lots of ways to do it--BBQs, concerts, etc.  Someone as powerful as Sembler's gotta have a lot of enemies, too, and they may jump at the chance to see him humiliated in court, and may help, albeit in a behind the scenes manner.  If the equation "Abuser=Bush cronie" can be made to stick, the local political opposition groups may be a means of bringing about greater visibility to the case.  I just wish I had known about this earlier so that I could have attended and shown my support.

I agree w/ that too. There seem to be a lot of musicians and ppl in the music industry among Program vets. Why the hell not put on a benefit BBQ w/ live music?

Thought that is silenced is always rebellious. Majorities, of course, are often mistaken. This is why the silencing of minorities is necessarily dangerous. Criticism and dissent are the indispensable antidote to major delusions.

There's got to be some club owners in the Tampa /St. Pete area that are Bradbury fans, if for no other reason than dislike of Sembler.  We should find these people and approach them about using their venues.

Awesome idea, kinda like a modern day Woodstock only this one is for ex Straightstock, their family, friends and the public.  Here's a thought:
Record the live music and sell the CD on Fornits, the Straights, etc. to benefit future events and
protests??

The problem we have had with advance notice regarding protesting is Police Intimidation.  However we have decided that it?s better to let everyone know well in advance of future events to enable a better attendance.

The previous ?ANON? post while sad does not reflect the truth.  There are many out there that would attend an event like this.  I would also point out that ?I DO? have life.  A very fast paced and engaged life.  And I still take time out to do what is right!  I won?t stand idly by and pretend like Straight never happened.  This protest was up close and personal to me.  This is my hometown. And as long as our citizens are being deceived by Sembler and cronies, I will be there trying to tell the truth.  This Protest is in the public interest and a public service.

Also I want to remind everyone that it takes time and money to do events like this.  It?s very easy to second-guess and judge someone?s actions from the sidelines.  I invite each one of you to make a difference in your part of our Country.  What?s preventing you from protesting in your area?  There is nothing stopping each and every one of you from doing something similar to what we did in St. Petersburg yesterday.

It?s time for individuals to rise up and take action!

Take care everyone?????..

Hats off to the people who organized and attended the protest!!!  Every protest broadening public awareness chips away at the false facade, until eventually, the house of cards falls.

Thanks guys, good job!!!!

whoever cannot seperate the fact that we are not comparing Straight to the holocaust is so stupid to rebut him is pointless.

BUT.....for the million thousandth time. No one was saying that Straight was comparable to the holocaust in numbers of people killed.

But, how hypocritical is it to have running the holocaust museum a violater of civil rights?

Does it make it ok that he just did not violatet them on a scale as large as the holocaust?

Does this mean that say I will choose a person who is slightly wrong and slightly corrupt as opposed to a truly evil individual because the other is worse?

That is not a good reasoning.

The arguement is not rational.

I think that the holocaust is the absolute best place to show the total duplicity of the actions of his past and the persona he puts out there now.

If I was near Florida I would be there. Whatever your problem is anon I don't know. But if you think that everyone should stop defending their rights because of the holocaust then you are nuts.

Good ideas RTP, except for the penis pump float. I like the burning in effigy idea though. It's dramatic enough to be caught by the media but can't be deemed inappropriate (like a big ol penis would be.)
