I'll e-mail you with all the details of the building....I've got to go into the office tommorow so I'll take the digital camera and take a few shots....

My first day I hardly had the power to sit up straight....and the guy who did my intake came by and whispered in my ear...."pot and alchol is the only thing on your drug list?? How come your so weak.....it's better to just get honest."

It was such a blur...funny thing I revised my drug list about 4 times...First off I didn't really recall what all I had done and hadn't done...I just kept changing it until they believed me....my honesty was pretty much whatever they wanted to hear sometimes....I don't think my hands ever turned purple ...or eyes darted....but to tell the truth I don't ever remember getting up and sharing...Sure, I "reached out" a time or two...confronted a few folks...got my share or ripping...but I don't ever remember the tears in my eyes stories....

What about guys rap....that...hands down...was the worst moment in the day....I swear half those guys were making up things just to score points to get to the next phase....again - honesty is whatever you were suppose to say....I work with some parents at a church who have "druggie" kids...and the one thing I say over and over again is."Don't label them drug addicts just because they smoked some pot and blew some coke"  How many kids in straigt were actually drug addicts?  So much for that 14-day evaluation...I never saw anyone be turned away.

And I vividly remember being happy when we'd sing that..."Hit me in the face with an axe.. haha" song instead of "Country Roads...take me home...to the place...I belong"

I went over to get coffee this morning at work and Cat's in the cradle came on............weird.
Maybe you can post the picture on this site, or e-mail an attachment. I really want a picture for some sick reason, maybe because I rarely saw the entrance, only when my sorry ass would be brought back after copping out. I forgot all about the hit me in the face song. I remember during my intake, they asked if I had a guy animal sexual relation, I had to clarify several times exactly what they ment and when I figured it out. I told them I didn't think I was in the right place and they snmiled at me and said, oh yes you are..the rest is well, it's what it is.

I learned more about drugs in Straight. I remember everyone laughing at me cause i new i didnt do acid cause people had told me what it was and did, but i had no idea what lsd was, come to find out at that time it was the same thing. I still to this day have never seen the stuff. They would stand me up every day for like a week and confront me about it. I left that place thinking i was an addict. I joined Palmer drug abuse program when I got out cause I had to in order for my parents to keep me and about 5 years later they sat me down and talked to me about how easy it is for me to stay clean. They said I was'nt welcomed to the closed meetings anymore.

What is your name Mr. Taureana? My name is Jim Horn. "

Pat and I lived together for like a year.  My name is Kelly Clark.  We moved to Dallas and lived with Donnie Roach for awhile, till we could get our own place there.  That was in 1991.  I got sober again, and Pat wouldn't.  Money was horrible, I was working at a stip club called PT's in Garland.  And I just couldn't take the stress anymore.  I had a baby daughter that my mom was keeping 'cause my life was so fucked up.  I finally realized that if I kept going the way I was, I would never get my kid back.  So I left Patrick and moved in with a guy I met from AA, also an ex-Straightling, named Michael Youngblood.  He was an over-ager.  Anyway, I moved in 'cause he needed a house sitter over the summer while he was going to be working in Houston.  We ended up getting married several months later.

Pat and I didn't really talk after that.  He got married a few months after I did.  He's got like 4 daughters now.  I keep in touch with his mother still.  I really got close to her.  Through this site, Pat and I talked for the first time in at least 10 years.  It was cool.

XXXXXXXXXX and I hung out with Tyler on New Year's Eve 1991.  Pat and I were still practicing sobriety then, and TXXXr said he was, but we had a strange feeling that he wasn't.  After that TXXX was in a horrible car wreck in Houston, the driver of the car died.  Me & XXXXX went to see him in the hospital in Houston.  He was on a feeding tube at the time.  When they found him at the wreck, both his legs were busted up and over his shoulders.  The car was a two seater Miata or something like that.  He had been life-flighted to the hospital.  When he got discharged from the hospital, he was transferred to a rehabilitation hospital where he practically had to re-learn to walk.

I saw him again with XXXXX in like November or December of 1991, we all tripped acid one night together.  I never saw him again after that.  I wish I knew what happened to him.  Anyone know anything more recent??"

Do you have zero respect for these peoples' privacy, or do you just not know any better? "

Listen, we are all part of a group of people that went through hell together.  These people were my family for many years.  No one really checks out this site unless they have something to do with it or were a part of it in some way.

Reading about other people that we know and what they went through helps us to understand ourselves, and give us some semblance of sanity.

I agree, I liked motivating.  I thought it sucked too, when they quit it.

I remember comparing bruises and shit like that with other phasers from motivating.  I remember some people talking about how in the winter when their hands would get dry and they'd motivate, that their finger tips would split open and they'd bleed.  Gross, huh?

They also said clients were not allowed to help restrain other clients.  Staff only.  Unless of course 50 kids ran for the door at the same time and there wasnt enough staff in all of Dallas to restrain them.  Which happened just before I ran, for several days.
<<

Most of the girls wouldn't help restrain, I was always having to do it.  I was like the first one called on to restrain.  Until I turned 18.  Executive staff pulled me aside and said I wasn't allowed to restrain anymore.  Didn't want a lawsuit or something......

Justin's in East Texas too, I think Tyler or there abouts.  If you're interested in finding him, Todd Townley may know how to reach him.  Todd & him were really close for awhile after Straight, but I don't think they are so much anymore.

Do you remember using carmex, lip balm??????????     "

When I was there, they quit allowing carmex, because it was in a glass container, and they were afraid a misbehavor would break it and it would become a weapon.
