Jane - I REMEMBER THAT!!!!  Your cure t-shirt either went into the black hole of clothesearch, or else it was given to your mom.  If it was given to your mom, she was told that it was a druggie tie, and that she had to get rid of it.

I saw the building a few months ago! Its now some computer software place or something, right in the middle of a whole bunch of other businesses, and right off of george bush freeway.
It looks totally different now, I guess it was like a lifetime ago. You have a story to tell? Did you go inside??

Oh yeah. That song, the take me home song, and lean on me always remind me of singing in group. The take me home song always made me feel the worst, I guess for obvious reasons.

D - Did you ever take pictures of the Irving Building? I also work about 2 minuets from there and drive past it often but I never been back inside. I am very curious!

This site (and all the other ones about Straight that I have discovered in the last few days) are bringing back so many memoires.

I would really like to find other people that were in there in 1990!

Jane kicks trash around the old building, with her head down wearing her Cure t-shirt, as the Cocteau Twins yoddle from her headphones...just an image I had.

Inventory Control for a company that makes interlock units (devices that are installed on drunk driver?s cars...like breath analyzers)....

I was a partial owner of a logistics company but we went under when we lost our two biggest contracts and couldn't pay for all our warehouse space and employees...that ended two years ago...
...working on a new company now.

I do a lot of writing as a hobby...

The most conservative idea I have is that every car should be equipted with one. The Gov. acts like they really care about accidents caused by drinking. Well....make it manditory that every car have one, seems pretty simple to me. The only people that would be against it are the ones that drink and drive on a regular basis i.e. the ones we need to worry about!!! D. at least with your job, you are saving some lives here and there. I know this is a conservative idea, but it's basic statistics.

Yea, it's crazy that I ended up working for any company of that sorts....My ambition as a young teenager was to be Sid Vicious...as an older teenager ...a tattoo artist....but after kids and the fact that I couldn't draw...and then getting off the drugs that were literally killing me....I just focused on work.....it worked out well for me....Hardest thing was leaving the lifestyle....but now I am at square 1 since my company shut down....I lost a lot of money from the shut down, but I have no complaints....Like every Straight ex I'm working on some writings...focused towards parents who think their kids are addicts.....I may name it 14 Day Evaluation......

Jim,
Didn't your Mom use to own an art gallery.....I was just thinking about that....it's cool she is in Santa Fe...she liked that Southwestern Art....

There were only two moms I clicked with...her and Ms. McNeil (in Rockwall...Chris's mom)....Your mom was sincere and just really cool....I remember her talking to me the night you escapped....She was really upset about everything that was going on at that time.....

That night, did you take a newcomer with you or just go out the bathroom window?  It was nuts.

Anyway, I saw your Mom at the Parks mall after I got out...about a year later....I was really messed up and with my girlfriend....I felt real guilty...

Hows your Dad doing?

My dad is good, we are close. Strange thing, the whole time I was living there in Straight, my dad was shagging, the cocktail waitress at his hotel he stayed at, he is a pilot. My mother knew and Straight had instructed them to not discuss their problems with me, that I needed to just focus on me and my drug problem. So the whole family thing was complete bullshit. I didn't find all this out until, I had left on third phase. A friend of the family said to me, sorry to hear about your folks. I was like, what are you talking about? That's when he told me. I had never felt so betrayed in my life. I flipped my shit out. Needless to say, that being the fourth time I copped out, I didn't have to go back, that was the only plus. The biggest fucking plus in the whole wide world....thanks dad for shagging that waitress.....no really, it caused much pain. It took my poor mother 10 years to get over it.
