Hi Marina,

OK, when you put it like that, you have a point.  There is nothing worse than getting a girl drunk for that crap, because it's not consensual if she's drunk.  Besides, you feel better about yourself if someone likes you with her own eyes, not beer goggles.

I thought you were just talking about using nice guys.  I can't stand gold-digging women -- hell, my wife pays for me sometimes.

Yes, America is a very cool country in that perspective.  Actually though, my favorite country is England.  The dialect is just so endearing and the northern countryside is magnificent.

I wish RTP would come on here and call me a buncha more names.  I miss the fun times!

I am very sorry that so many people have died for this country.  I'm sorry because look what it got us.  We should have been fighting for our Consitution, but instead we have fought in order to destroy it.  The Constitution has eroded with each war  we have been in.

When people question there love for our Country, it's time to listen.  I'm sick of the lies and the idea that if you  say something is true then it is.  This country is going down the tubes, and i think the young people know it.  They see the wcrewed up values and they experience the harsh realities of what our country has to offer.

Talk about brainwashing.  Our military is the master at brainwashing.  They feed you crap, so you will obey on command.  You still believe your government is worth dying over.  That's sickening.  Our government is made up of murderers and theives, and if you believe one word that comes from them you are a fool.

I'm angry, not at anyone here,I'm angry that my children and grandchildren are being cheated out of their futures.  I appreciate having a place to express it.

Without our military you ass would be spending Ducth Marks or Yen at the grocery store ,only after standing in line in hope to get bread.
Would I die for my goverment???? a soldier looks at it as dying for his country and countrymen ie:YOUR ASS so you can have your opinions, how many fucking times do I have to say it. I am not a Bush supporter I am not a bleeding heart lib, I am a independent somewhere in between. You sound like the type that sits at home and whines but never goes to the polls to do anything about it.

Hey Patriot,

Some people think if you're not a complete pinko, you're a fascist.  Reminds me of college.

Thanks for the compliment.

I even agree with a few words that this "The Contrarian" dude is saying, but I think he's generalizing. Try not to be so extremmist, take it easy bro.

No, Pete, I ain't no gold digger. I preffer to ride the bus with someone I enjoy being with than to ride a fucking Audi or whatever with someone I'm not attracted to. I care about deeper things than money, such as education, culture, the chemistry between us, character, personality, empathy and beauty (both inner and physical). Materialistic things I can get for myself.

Anyways, the British accent is rather charming. I've spent few days in London and I haven't been around England much, although it's definitely an interesting country. Next year, I'll be spending a semester in Europe and If I'm lucky enough, I'll make it to Italy cause that's where my family is from originally.

   Peace!

Marina,
Try to check out the southern tip of Italy near Bari.  I have never been the the touristy areas, but the sunsets over the fields are magnificent down south.  Plus Sofia Loren owns some disco down there.  My friend and I were supposed to go but it rained that night and the owners wimped out.  I don't know what it is about the rain that scares the Italians.

I'll never forget staying in the English countryside near Scarborough and watching from the picture window as the sheep got herded from one end of a field to another.  It was another world... and a beautiful one.  I stayed with a very friendly gay man.  I must say, gay men are great hosts and good cooks too.

As for Audis... hey, my mom drives an Audi!... LOL

I believe you are a Patriot in the truest sense of the word.  Patriotism is a admirable quality that  I think some people are born with.  I was not; however, I was born a contrarian.  I generally view things differently that the average Joe.  I have an innate distrust for the people running our country.  How would you feel if our country turned to military control when all hell breaks loose?  I understand Bush is building new military bases all over the country.  What's that all about?

I will probably always strike a nerve with you and others, but I hope we can dialogue anyway.  I know people don't want to hear that their cozy little lives might not be so cozy in the near future.  I respect that.  However, from some of the other stuff I read here, I think there's room for my unpopular opinion.

The reason Bush is building military bases, is because during the Clinton years our Military was cut by almost 50% closing several bases . That is why there are so many National guardsmen and reservisits at age 40 + currently on active duty that otherwise would be back in their jobs and with their families. If all hell broke loose and martial law was imposed it would be a mess and start a revolution, because I can gaurantee most soldiers would not fire on their own countrymen....just wouldn't happen, thats why we need to seperate ourselves as much as possible from the UN and the One World Order BS.

Me too. And I think we'd all find even more common ground if we were to be a little more precise in our definitions.

"We", for example. Ya'll are using the pronoun interchangably to mean "we, Americans" and "our government". They're not the same thing. Never were. We've always been at odds w/ our government to a lessor or greater extent. America is really doing just fine and well. The USFG, otoh, is on some damned shakey ground. America will not cease to exist if/when our Federal government changes significantly. America existed some time before the Revolutionary War and will still exist through whatever comes next. When Rome fell, did Italians quit making wine?

About immigrants, remember that, had current immigration law been in place when our grandparents were young, all of our immigrant ancestors would have been illegal. The rules have changed a LOT more than the immigrants.

One of the best things about Cuban and Mexican immigrants to So. Florida is that they know a stupid communist scheme when they see one, even if the silly bastard at the podeum swears it's an original idea thunk up by some Republicrat or Dempublican.

I love my country but I fear my government.

I'm about ready to start flying a Gandsden flag like this one:

The greater the ignorance the greater the dogmatism.

Yes, I'm pretty sure we are all more alike than different.  I celebrate our likeness and appreciate our differences always.

Democracy - "a form of government in which the power resides in the people and is exercised by them either directly or by means of elected representatives."

This is why the term "we" is used interchangably.  It does add to the complexity and the passion of the issues we  discuss.  I also love America; I also hate our government.  I also know that Americans are responible for our government.  American's will survive any and all crimes of our own government and the government of others.  I survived cancer, it was hell, and I'm missing a couple parts as a result, but I survived.

Democracy - "a form of society which favors the tolerance of minority views."

Democracy is definately of shakey ground in this country. I can only wonder what will replace it when the dust settles.
