Theraputic Boarding School in Utah - need info
« on: January 22, 2004, 01:07:00 PM »
My friend just got sent to a "Theraputic Boarding School in Utah" after spending a month in the mental health ward of her local hospital.  The motive according to her parents was to get her out of her environment.

She was sexually abused by her step father up to the time she was hospitalized, and resorted to cutting and depression, however never did anything really dangerous or out of the ordinary to herself or others.  She was in a horrible family situation, and at least now she's away from that.

I don't believe she belongs in a boarding school, and I'm seriously concerned for her health and safety.  She needs help, not correction.

What kind of school do you think she is in?  I have heard some good stuff about Mormon work camps being at least decent.

How horrible!  The stepfather's diddling the kid and they dump the kid out of her home instead of mom divorcing the SOB?!  That's monstrous.

Why in the hell has someone not called the police on the stepfather and gotten him prosecuted?  Why haven't *you* called the police on the stepfather and reported his crimes?

You should call 911 right now and tell the police everything you know about the stepfather's sexual abuse of this minor child.  You should call your state family and children's services and report the crime, as well---along with the very real possibility that the kid has been sent away to a lockdown facility to shut her up and render her unable to pose a threat of testifying against the stepfather.

If the police and family and children's services don't do anything, you should start calling the press---every press organization in your town.

Hello?!! Stepfather's behavior is a *crime*!!!

Stepdad needs to be put in jail, and kid needs to come home and be placed in foster care, not locked up as if she's the criminal just because her mom was  willing to pimp her out just so mom wouldn't have to be manless.

Well, if the stepdad weren't still in the home, presumably the person who knows the kid wouldn't have said putting the kid in the program got her out  of "a horrible family situation."

That's what makes it sound like the stapfather is still there, which is why I went ballistic in the first place.

Is this therapeutic boarding school PROVO CANYON SCHOOL.  It is known as a therapeutic boarding school - The female facility is in Orem Utah and the male facility is in Provo Utah.  It is the Mother of all abusive programs.  I have personal experience with this place.  It is extremely punitive and many have been damaged pysically, emotionally and psychologically.  In addition to PCS the WWASPS organization is also located in St. George Utah.  The state does nothing to protect the kids in these facilities. Yes, some of the people working in these places are Mormon - but that doesn't make them saints - many are on power trips and feel they have a moral duty to change and improve behavior and values at all cost.  The motto is, "whatever works"  that includes torture.  There are over 70 of these youth torture facilities in the state of Utah.  The authorities have done little to nothing to protect children from abuse at these programs because they help the Utah economy by providing jobs to thousands of utahans. The owners of these lucrative facilities are also big donors to the republican party.  Take Robert Lichfield - he has donated nearly $300,000 - more that Bill Gates and Donald Trump combined and more than 90% of the ambassadors. It's no wonder the government isn't doing anything to protect teens who are tortured daily in these horrid places.
I made a report of abuse to the authorities - here's what I was told, " Parents should do their homework before sending their children to facilities in Utah." It's a buyer beware thing in Utah - accept these are human beings and not automobiles.  DANGER, DANGER, DANGER - get them the hell out of that right wing state with private for profit teen prisons.   :skull:  :skull:  :skull:

Life may have no meaning.  Or even worse, it may have a meaning of which I disapprove.
