you might be eligible, actually more then might be should be, for SSI or SSD or something like that.

Money and healthcare I think you should try it. It is worth a shot! Seriously.

To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; to leave the world a little better; whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is the meaning of success.
--Ralph Waldo Emerson

I was able to get funding through Texas Rehab for education to go to college.  I had to be actively participating in AA and/or NA in order to get it.

I don't know what other services they offer.

I am going to check that out.
Actively Participating in AA/NA = Going once or twice a week to smoke cigs for an hour and try to meet women

Seriously though, theres nothing here in this town as far as opportunities. There was an Oil boom here in the 70s and 80s and alot of people came here and built all these shopping centers
and houses etc etc. And everyone made alot of cash, it was at one time the second richest city in America.
Then the oil prices dropped, and bottomed out,
and now its an overpopulated ghost town kinda.
But Im tethered here because my family lives here, Ive moved off serveral times, but always come back.

I went to school and got a CDL liscense....it pays extremely well from the start. So I looked for a job that stays pretty much within 4 states around Texas. Then I found out that all the new people have to do the runs to Canada, I guess the oldschool drivers dont wanna fuck with it.
That in itself really turned me off to it.

I have 1 felony, so I had to get an application to even temporarily pass through.
So I go to the DPS and get my fingerprints done,
got all my records from the courthouse, had passport size photos made, sent in my fingerprints to the FBI..waited on those to come back...sent all that shit in to Canadian Consulate with $200.00 and still have not gotten my reply.

Also, in that line of work, any urine tests stay on your permanent record, so do tickets and stuff. If some company ran a full blown urine screen they will detect methadone. That drug has the worst stigma ever, rivaled perhaps only by Oxyxontin and Methaqualone (quaaludes). And I dont really want public accessable documents saying I am on Methadone floating around forever.
I dont really keep it a secret, but thats a lifelong permanent record that can be viewed by anyone with $10.00 (prospective  employers)

I dont want to really even do the CDL thing now.
I think I have a certain calling in life.So I need to somehow get the money to go back to school for a bit.
The only long term job experience that I have
is cooking at Outback and Chilis, and thats dead end.
Im going to MC today to look into school finance infos

No joke.  I met two of my ex-husbands at AA.  I guess I should've learned the first time????

Texas Rehab won't pay for all of it, but they covered all of my books.

I also had checked myself into an outpatient facility in 1990 and after 1 year, they paid my tuition and books for the CADAC program (Certified Alcohol & Drug Abuse Counselor) through the continuing ed. dept. at Sam Houston in Huntsville.

I was seriously considering going back to Straight in '90, but then I found out I was pregnant.  I tell my daughter all the time she saved my life.  She's a really cool kid.

Anyway, it was in like 96 when I went through TX Rehab for the funding.  They alloted funds depending on circumstances.  I was able to get a student loan, so they only paid for my books.  But for people who couldn't get any other financial assistance.

I had to do some psychological testing, the Michigan Test, if you've ever heard of it.  But even though I am a little crazy, it wasn't a problem.  I had studied it in one of my psych courses I took when I was 19.

Worst thing that could happen, is they would say no.

Yes I have. I began seeing psychologists at 5 years old. After straight went through 6 more rehabs and a mental hospital.
Mental problems run in my family, at least as far back as my mothers grandmother, and posibly further.

My Grandmother was kind of a psycho and very abusive to my mother and her sisters, and then my mother grew up to be like that as well.
But she has changed these last few years.

AFter they divorced over Straight etc..she moved off and would never let me know where she lived or her phone # or anything.....Tough love, you know..So I didint even know where she was for 9 years...
When I got out of prison and had no place to go she called my father and bitched him out for putting a roof over my head...
When my ex wife and I split up..I had no place to go, had just my car and clothes...and again she bitched him out for putting a roof over my head.

But now Im pretty sure he hates me too...
lol
