PETITION TO CLOSE PROVO CANYON SCHOOL!
« Reply #1 on: January 16, 2004, 09:39:00 PM »
yes.  i signed the petition.  yes.  i know/believe that these things happen.
the author would do better .>.>>
i, myself, was not a "good" teenager.  It didn't matter what my parents did.  I did what I WANTED TO.  not very nice/responsible things.  but my parents saw it as a PHASE, that would pass, w/encouragement/patience, or indifference, or just understanding and serious dissapointment, they didn't make me, their MONSTER (oh, and believe me, I WAS) teenager go away w/$.  Yeah, ME, it was ME, not THEM.  No, a program didnt convicne me it was ME.  I didn't go to one.  I knew, i'm 35, i REALIZE what i was 14-19 years old. NOW
IF the author truly believes in the cause, worthy of time and attention, then please, have some understanding we are all human beings.  infalable.  doing well is always preferred over always needing to do well, accept yourself - as human being.  infalable.  capable of making mistakes.  if you haven't made any mistakes in life, you haven't lived.  i, myself, have done some living.  well, guess what, so am i (we, the human population)
not everyone is just lazy rude you gotta problem, poof! throw some money at it, it goes away.  NO we are all not the same.  with that said. . . those persons (parents, teachers, mental health professionals, charitable organizations, etc., etc.) who you touch upon (blame) are also human, you lump everyone together, whether they sent their son daughter there OR NOT. saying hey you!  go to therapy, nut job instead of try this website: rebt.org.  k, see where i'm going here?  subtle.
here is a great saying:  if you haven't made any mistakes in life, you haven't lived.  i, myself, have done some living.
change is good:  change FROM parents take responsibility for your godman snot nosed monster which YOU CREATED to something more gentle, motivating the cause. . . (this and 45 cents will buy you a cup of coffee).
i am not questioning whether you were wronged or whether the teen help industry is a bad situation that is out of control and needs to be much more satifactory or eliminated entirely to be replaced by some other "?" who knows what  . . .quit the contrary.
we dont like some things are NOT the way that we like them to be so we pull together.  if i were way up there above the earth looking down, i would probably see us so small, like little ants . . . just an an endless audience (mass). all of many make, race, experiences, culture, class, background.  it is not only the survivor (who you address) who wants this to stop.  WE also do.  we ARE parents, business men/women, charitable organizations, law enforcement, attorneys.  so, please.  easy.
what help to our children AND parents, our FAMILIES is a need that is/needs to be evolving in society. telling that audience to "get therapy, you the crazy, lazy person, greedy, etc" person . . .
rethink it.
we need you
