He is not granting them immunity. It's a bit deceptive. He wants them to come forward so they can be tracked. Cheap labor is good for business/corps. He also wants their tax dollars. They will pay into social security, but never receive any benefits from the program.
You know how a dictator suppress the opposition and quiets the public? Keep them busy looking for employment and struggling to provide basic necessities for their families.
This is an election year. He is also distracting the publics attention away from the horrendous messes he has caused. Here's an interesting letter to Shrub from a Republican. Hope enough repubs are feeling this way and the voting mechanisms aren't rigged.
Dear Pres. Bush,
I am a registered Republican in Kansas. I am writing to say how puzzled I am about your recent announcement of a plan to send manned missions to the moon and Mars.
First, there is no apparent reason to send humans into space, since we now have sophisticated robotic technology that can do more than humans ever will be able to. Second, with the largest deficit in history already weighing heavily on the shoulders of future generations, there is no reason to spend billions or trillions on a manned space program. I think your ?space program? is simply a tactic to divert the public?s attention from the terrible state of the economy, job creation, health care, and other issues that affect us daily.
What I want to hear you talk about is how you're going to help provide health care for the 44 million uninsured Americans, including 8.5 million children.
I want to hear how you're going to create those150,000 American jobs a month you promised to replace the 2 million that have been lost since you came into office. And then please explain why qualified, educated workers with families are going to have to live on a Wal-Mart sub-par hourly wage (without health insurance).
I want to hear your plans to fund the No Child Left Behind to the extent you had originally promised. As of today, government funding is $7 billion short.
I want to hear how your "Clear Skies Act" will preserve our environment for ourselves and generations to come. It seems to be a wholesale trashing of our precious natural environment to benefit oil companies, mining and lumber companies. Does ?Clear Skies? mean the skies will be clear of pollution when all the natural resources are finally gone?
I want to hear how you're going to help the states get through the biggest budget crises they've faced in years. Your federal tax cuts haven't done doodly for me (except for the $300, for which I thank you, though I didn't ask for it) and have robbed the states of matching funding for many important programs. The result: I have to pay more property taxes, sales taxes, and special taxes to bridge the gap. And still, Mr. Education President, our public schools are scrambling to find funding for an ?adequate education? for our children.
I want to hear how you're going to get us out of Iraq without a democratic vote that will install an Islamic fundamentalist government there.
I want you to explain why we haven't captured Osama Bin Laden yet. And why we should keep our soldiers in Iraq, when more of them have been killed (and keep getting killed daily) since you declared victory under that ?Mission Accomplished? banner than were killed during "the war."
I want to know whether you have any interest in the middle class, poor and minority citizens of this country. You act as if the only the rich and the industrialists are entitled to breaks. I am neither rich nor an industrialist, so whoever runs against you, whether it's one of the Democratic candidates or a chocolate-chip pancake, I will vote for him or it.
Sincerely,
Liz Craig
