Frod, the legend goes that WWASP had no idea that Trekkers even existed till Carey posted something about it in these forums.

At the time, no one said a word to me. I think that was back around the end of September. I got a frantic AIM msg from an old friend (who probably doesn't really think of me as a friend any more) warning me that Sue was thinking of suing me over postings on this forum. Well that pissed me off, so I decided to go and bottle up some beer that really was probably a day or two late for it.

While I'm doing that, I get a call from another friend with the same warning.

At this point, I still don't know what message(s) have got Sue's panties in a bunch. So I posted the thread PURE Bullshit to try and find out.

I spent a few minutes trying to locate that offending post, but couldn't find it. At the time, Sue agreed that none of it met any legal requirements for me to censor, except for her private ( ) email address and phone numner. So I marked those out and left the rest. If anyone can find the infamous post, I'd like to look it over again knowing what I know now.

However, even if it does contain information that would have tipped off the WWASPies, that doesn't really prove that that's where they got it. I'd heard the term Trekkers floating around long before then. But I wasn't interested enough to go and find out just who and what they were. I assumed they were probably white hats and that, eventually, I'd probably find out more. That's why I think that anyone with a vested interest in getting at that data probably could have done it just fine without Carey.

Don't worry about temptation--as you grow older, it starts avoiding you.

Recap:

Bozak went to Costa Rica with Carey (and some bodyguards) to rescue her kids, is this correct?  If so, why in the world would Carey need an educational consultant to accompany her.  I understand (sort of) why she might want some muscle-men but an educational consultant? Was this Carey's or somebody else's idea?  Just wondering, not trying to start a bogus war.

According to Sue, Steve had been there in August.  Sue claimed that Steve had witnessed how bad it was. She said Steve said the kids were eating only rice and an egg for their dinner when he was there doing his program visit.

She said he knew where it was and he would be able to help me find the place.   According to Sue and Steve, Dundee was in the Jungle and would be hard for me to find.  It was Steve who recommended we take the so called "bails bondsmen."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So the court docs say that Sue's PURE, INC grossed approx. $300k. So there is a theory on this since they don't really market that much - one would ask logically how they could do that.
Steve Bozak (an ed. consultant) would charge parents for a "consultation" and conveniently recommend a program which Pure is an affiliate or admissions co. So Steve takes money from parents.
Then Sue gets the contract signed and makes approx. $2000 (from what I understand it's $1000 to refer and $2000 if you actually get a contract signed). Of course the programs that they are involved with don't know what's going on. In a typical scenerio with an ethical consultant the parent would be referred directly to the program to contract saving the program $2000 approx. (some have been said to give up to $3000).
(which I figure why the hell not - the program charges the parent the same if they put them in or a place like PURE does - so why not spread the wealth). Carey should sue Bozak and Scheff for this unethical practice. Side note - Why shouldn't Carey take WWASP money? Anyone with a logical brain cell in their head would say when faced by an attorney at $200-300/hr. telling you to take the money or receive a court order to give up info - why not save time, hassle, and make a little dough?

Here were the options -

1. destroy evidence (uh oh)
2. sell out (make money, and get revenge on sue)
3. hold out (no money)

It seems to me that the only ones telling her that she shouldn't have done this are Sue's chronies. Yes, I'm talking about you Colburns. You think your tone and manor about you doesn't give you away.

Back to the scam of PURE :

I wonder how deep it really goes. She could have 10 of these guys who she could kick back a portion of the admit money. As for the thread on Berryman - He was working the msg boards to get business for PURE. He probably needed money because he couldn't get his fat ass out of bed to go to his cushy govt. job. I mean really, what does the man do for a living? Nobody knows! I'll tell you - he takes Sue's money. Berryman, Scheff, Carey (for entertaining all the criticism about her - Carey - just say FUCK YOU! already), Bozak, etc are FUCK0's and Scam Artists (a fine one at that - I mean DAMN $300K!!!!!!!)

Well, this is one post that belongs in the archives stamped TO BE CONTINUED. I'm curious though Anon, whether you have any comments or opinion on the association of Marie Peart with PURE. The lady once worked for WWASPS as an admissions rep, if I am not mistaken. How is it that she got involved with PURE?  Second, Scheff states on her own website that prior to starting her own referral business, she recruited for WWASPS,claiming she was more or less "programmed" (like other parents) into doing so.  Personally, I don't know if that is true, or not, but it does raise some red flags in my mind.  Referring kids for compensation is no small matter. Shouldn't there be SOME standards and/or qualifications these parents are required to possess besides having sent their own kid away for "treatment"?
What are Scheff's qualifications aside from being a former WWASPS supporter and recruiter? Is she like all the others who claim that because they were once a "desperate parent" themselves, they are some kind of an expert when it comes to helping other desperate parents?  Take a look at the TERMS (disclaimer) on the PURE website. It's at the bottom of the homepage.  Caveat Emptor!
As for your question about "how deep it goes", apparently that is the $64,000 dollar question.

Well, this sort of fits my best guess on the situation. I've known some of the ISAC ppl (members, officers, supporters... whatever affinity, I'm not going for specificly defined relationship here.) for a long, long time. And I honestly believe they got took for a wild ride, but never had any bad or devious intent. I think the PURE ppl are sincer, too. Just wrong, that's all. And the acronym is perfectly fittin and proper; they're Puratins, whereas I'm a seperatist.

Ginger, who took ISAC for a ride?  If you mean PURE, than why the comment that the PURE ppl are sincere?  Sorry, just not understanding your post and am asking for some clarification so I can see your P.O.V. better.

I guess what anon was trying to say here Greg, is that how would "sincere" (PURE) ppl "take someone for a ride?" Simple as that...

I was specifically referring to the "took ISaac for a ride" comment
