MY FAVORITE QUOTES FROM NEWTON
« on: October 20, 2003, 10:15:00 AM »
"Training a child not to use drugs is not unlike housebreaking a pet. If the newspaper across the bridge of the nose comes at the right time, the pet soon makes the association between the "fwap on the nose and the action. Children need such rudimentary training where drugs are concerned."

?MILLER NEWTON/BETH POLSON, Not My Kid

Whenever I hear someone talk about drug abuse, I get funny pictures in my mind. I think of a kid with a stick beating a plastic baggie of grass lying on the ground. I picture a kid jumping up and down on a plastic bottle of pills, grinding them into the sidewalk with his heel. These pictures may be a personal quirk, but they point to a very important distinction. Teenagers "use drugs".

BINGO, you have hit the nail on the head for the latest addition to http://www.kidsofelpaso.com.  There will soon be page aptly named "it was said" that will refer to all of Newton's (and others) published quotes.  I have quite a few together at home already and to say that are meglomaniacally and  insanely hysterical in hindsight is a horribly gross understatement.

If anyone wishes to contribute, you can forward any and all quotes to the webmaster address at the aforementioned website.

Thanks for posting a glimpse into the nonsensical Newtonian philosophy regarding adolescent  rehabilitation.

My favorite Newton quotes are these:

"Get her the FUCK out of my group!"
(Said after he threw me to the ground by my hair while I was staring at my feet - exhausted from my several hour ten-girl beating in the bathroom)

"It was a recognized restraint-hold."
(Said in court to rationalize why he assaulted me)

And my number one favorite - said to anyone who spoke up and complained:

"I don't give a GODDAMN about your legal rights!"

My favorite was:

"The quickest way into someone's brain is to grab them by the hair at the front of the head."

Which is probably actually pretty true. What I'm still wondering is why he thought it was okay to use that hair at the front of my head to slam my head repeatedly into the wall.

When I was on 5th pase I admitted that I still really thought that what was done to me was NOT okay. A conference call was set up for me & he explained this to me in great medical mumbo jumbo & I was truly convinced that it made perfect sense. It was all so clear now. I graduated soon after.

My God, what were we involved in...? :scared:
His words are colder than ice. Loveless and ugly.

Some say a cult.  Others say an abuse mill.  Still others say it was a healthy, therapeutic environment.
In some ways, they're all right, yet in other ways, they are all wrong.

That was a phrase used to "break us".  You feel such helpless and defeat at hearing that phrase, that you're only sane recourse is to assume that he must know something or have skills that we don't if he can expect the impossible from us.
I hate him.  I hate him in a way I've never hated anyone in my life.

"There is no try.  Do or do not.  Never try."
      - Yoda, The Empire Strikes Back, 1980

Newton steals his pearls of 'wisdom' from muppets.

Actually, I think he's more like the baker from Sesame Street who would walk down the stairs precariously balancing 11 banana cream pies (or whatever) until he got to the final step and he fumbled & fell, covering himself in pastry.
His stack of pastry was a group of kids that didn't want to be sober clones of his son, and now he's got their lawsuits all over him.

SIX!  SIX MILLION DOLLARS!  MWA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA.
