But, what is it about this enemy that you feel a solidarity with?

Zionist? I don't think so... Not that I view that as a bad word.
When someone invades your land and builds a mosque on your most holy site... It's hard to generate a bunch of sympathy with me.

After WWII, the jews who survived the holocaust were interned in camps. Nobody wanted to take the jews in. Some who tried to return home, like to Poland, for example, were killed. Would you want to live in a place where most of your neighbors sat idly by while you were shipped off to be killed? Where all those bad memories were? Israel was their old homeland before they were conquered and displaced. They were willing to live alongside the Muslims but they were not willing.
