Dear lord... and they're not stumbling across the finish line?
Somewhat translated the article reads:
In 13th consecutive year the beer relay was held between Snekkersten Port and Kronborg Castle in Elsinore, and it left its mark on the street scene along the water.
On the way boys should drink 15 items each, while the girls had to "settle" with 10, as did the mood better and better with every step they took young. However, at the finish line, which was the parking lot of Kronborg castle among hte many tourists a few of the participants did start to ramble a little ....
It seems that the age group was senior high school students and youth attending college. They are at the end of their rite of passage with alcohol. Their system would be able to adapt this amount of alcohol without sending them out where it could look like binge drinking. The "run" did properly take about 2 hours which is slow walking. I guess that some even had friends on the route which gave them something to eat and maybe consumed a beer or two when the judges didn't look.
I remember my senior year in high school. I could drink an entire bootle of wine and still go to work the next day. Today a decade later after just two glasses of wine I am sleepy. There are many weeks where I don't drink alcohol and it is because I like most Danes start focusing on earning money and having a career. Alcohol is something you have to adjust your system to and if you don't maintain a high level of consumption, you cannot drink as most anymore over time. Then it is not important how much you can drink. It is what you combine it with. A good glass of red wine combined with a good steak beats 10 beers any time.
