It is disturbing to read this program philosophy presented at the seminars and even more disturbing to read parents that profess to be religous buying into this.

There defiately IS right and wrong-good and evil- dark and light and they do not mix.

To put your trust in a program more than in your
Creator and his Word would seem to be having other Gods before him and idolizing a philosophy above the Word.

The Word tells fathers to never to exasperate your children (Ephesians)  what does that mean? and it does say to use a rod but that can be translated as using correction. ...Not pushing on someone until they crack.   :sad:

What advice would He have for you in your situation..I doubt it would be to put your child in the hands of those with no Godly bond or instinct to protect them and go take a vacation. Keep searching for other ideas.

What I don't understand is how a parent, however desperate, can decide on what amounts to incarceration or commitment without first going on the web and doing their homework on the industry---which would include finding all the survivors' orgs., and *then* doing critical background research on whatever school they select *including* insisting on a site-visit with no holds barred to the parent, and *then* (if the child has mental health problems) insisting on meeting the licensed professional to deal with that, finding out how often and when the child will meet with him/her, and following up to ensure those appointments actually take place---including insisting on copies of the records.

*Not* doing those things is like walking up to some stranger in a mall, handing them 20 bucks, and asking them to babysit your kid for the day.

Trying to explain this got me in a lot of trouble on the BBS! : )

It really didn't fit in well with the Program mind set. It was like, there is no right or wrong - except you - you are wrong ; )

Of coarse, thats exactly what is going on. I feel it is a form of humanism - a worshipping of the self. I tend to think its natural that this philosophy has found a home in this program, b/c it is fundamental to the faith of those who built and own it.
After all, if one will someday be a god; then they must have within themselves redemptive power.
It can mix and be matched with any of the eastern religions very nicely - but it clashes head on with Judaic Christianity.
I to was surprised that more of the professing Christians didn't have trouble with this. I can only think that the majority are what I think of as cultural Christians. Their faith being a conveince; their church a social club; and nothing of Christ ever getting very deep.
These folks don't know enough about their faith to know when its being subverted; and often argue against the very tenints of their faith; either out of ignorance, or disbelief. These are the parents that profess to Christian faith; and yet buy into the Program's lie; In my opinion.

I'm only guessing, of course. But I think I can rightly characterize this as an educated guess.

The TV told them so. Sally, Dr. Phil, Montel, Maurey... they all agree that SOMEthing must be done! And fast! Before the kid dies! Desperate measures are in order!!! Even if they're not completely sold, the evening news, the Partnership for a Drug (that they don't sell) Free America, the DARE cop, the schoolpeople all reenforce this message. That same TV, (the same one, btw, that lied to them about everything from Vietnam to Enron) also assures them that there's nothing but smutt and disinformation on the net.
