a WWASPS'er has written that they are only trying to help families one at a time - not save the world- from all appearances I beg to differ.
What is the purpose of the "Visions" assignment that parents take on? to become part of a "Visions" community? Read their websites..they are not about building a new park or feeding the poor - they are about bringing these thought reform seminars into public schools, promoting the program and seminars and spreading the good news that WWASP has a cure for anyone who wants to "help" their family -every one is troubled somehow-they seem to have a definate goal to grow the program and a philosophy that it is not only good for troubled teens but TASKS is good for everyone.
the program also holds up the fact that they've recieved so many TY letters from parents yet aren't parents assigned to write letters of thanks during the seminars? I've seen parents write about how happy they are with the skills they gained yet they have no idea where their children are and have no relationship with them? Isn't the goal to have a lifelong relationship with your child and enjoy your granchildren etc?
There seems to be a larger goal here and the program seems to be successful at getting intelligent parents to believe there is only one way to productive adulthood and that is through the program...cult experts state that those that think they could never be reformed and buy into a cult are often exactly those who do.
If the program is good for everyone then wouldn't that qualify as wanting to grow this thing so far that you save ALL from nail biting or whatever their destructive habit may be?
Could it be that some of the parents also go to these lengths to ensure that they never have to wonder if the decision they made was right and may have reprecussions on their children's lives forever?...if the program did effect your child in an adverse way it seems you either face it and take it on or continue to support it so fully that you never allow yourself to really consider what consequenses your choices created for your children have made...PTSD is a lifeling disorder.
