Pam,

Thanks for that clarification on the family tree.  I hope thing will work out with your son.

pepsitodd1:
To the guest- thank you for your thoughts and to Ursus- thank you for correcting my misspelling of my grandfather's name!

Ursus:
Well, I surely hadn't intended to imply that it was misspelled, just that it could be.  :D
A lot of names can have a number of different spellings...

However, I did bring up the guy described as being in the Vermont State Guard, thinking that it could conceivably be your grandfather. Any info on that?

The man born in Boothbay, Maine, might be an ancestor.

pepsitodd1:
Ursus, I talked to my dad- he thinks his dad was possibly in the Vermont guard because he did live there, and he thinks that was probably a part-time thing as the national guard is  because he knows his dad also had another job. The geographical areas of these people are right, but the 1837 date would have to be someone my dad wasn't familiar with- an ancestor, as you said. I was ribbing myself for mistaking a relatives name, but glad you set me straight. My brother, David, and my dad really enjoyed looking at the family research you pulled up. Thank you for doing that.

pepsitodd1:
Ursus- ps. my dad also said that his grandmother's name was Harriet, so what you found is probably the same family tree.
