--- Quote from: "Morman Nailer" ---So our young anarchist is the grand nephew of Hyde founder Joe Gauld? I don't remember if Pam's dad was Joe's brother because Joe isn't really a Gauld. His birth name was Smith.
--- End quote ---
I seem to remember that Joe had an older (full) brother who preceded him to Bowdoin by a few years. I always thought that he was Pam's father. Maybe I was wrong...
Anonymous:
Pam came from Mobile Alabama. Or somewhere in Alabama.

Tom, Joe, and Joan are the biological children of Georgia Warren and Abile Smith. Their father left them at an early age and remarried. Brownlee Gauld was their stepfather and they seemed to have revered him.Tom, my dad, went to Harvard,as did Brownlee. I don't think any other brother went to Bowdoin. John and Mickey are the biological children of Georgia and Brownlee, Tom and Joe's half brothers. I did grow up in Mobile Alabama, until I went to Hyde as an 8th grader. I'm happy to clarify any other family questions. Are any of you on facebook, because there are many people from Hyde getting back in touch.

ps it looks like I posted the same information twice, because I didn't see it the first time, so I rewrote it. Sorry.

Hi
Tom, Joe, and Joan are the biological children of Georgia Warren and Abile Smith. Their dad left, remarried , and had little to do with them. They consider Brownlee Gauld ,their step- father, as their father. Tom( my dad) went to Harvard, as did Brownlee. John and Mickey are their half brothers, biological children of Georgia and Brownlee. I can't recall if one of them went to Bowdoin; I think John may have. I lived in Mobile, Alabama from 3 years of age until I went to Hyde as a 9th grader my 8th grade year. Pam Gauld Eveland

Found a transcribed page from the Warren Family Bible located at the Westbrook Historical Society (Maine). It records events up to 1924, so Joe's older sister and brother are mentioned here. Joe was born three years later, I believe, and so did not grace this page.
Note spelling of Joe's father's name (different than noted above). Not sure whether that is for real, or a typo or transcription error. Elsewhere, I also found mention of an "Abiel Manley Smith" who served as an officer with the Vermont State Guard during WW II. Further back in time, there was also an "Abiel Manley Smith," born Oct. 23, 1837, in Boothbay, Maine, son to Stevens and Harriet Newell (Knight) Smith from Portland, Maine.*
