And all the fried horse I can eat.. oddly.. I really am thinking about this offer. It would be a nice way to get out of China for 3 months and my company is willing to let me do it so they claim.

dude your sick i would never eat a horse. it's like eating a cat, or dog, or monkey or something. just plain wrong. plus, you ever see horse meat? i saw some horsemeat sausage in poland once, it was fucking TRANSPARENT, opaque, but still transparent. if you hold it up to the light you can make out outlines of objects through the meat.

It is actually not too bad and better for you than the crap we eat here in the US.  It all depends on how you cook it.  They also use Mares milk or cream for your tea and coffee (good coffee is hard to come by).  The tents you may live in are called Yurts.  If you have traveled than these dietary changes are not new to you.  Talk to those people about eating a steer and they will think that is gross.  Its all a matter of perspective.

who cares if it's good for you? dolphins are good for you too, but i'm not putting any of them in my mouth. There's more to eating ethically than eating healthy. It's not a matter of cultural perspective, it's a matter of human compassion. you dont eat animals that arouse either positive or negative, emotion and/or are capable of human companionship. If you dont have compassion for those animals and you are eating them then there is a big hole in your heart. If you do have compassion and you are eating them anyway, then it depends on why you're eating them. If you're doing it to survive (as they do in mongolia), then that's understandable. If you're eating it because it's a delicacy, or because it's "cool", or because you think it will make your dick bigger, etc, and your society can ethically produce other food in the quantities needed to feed the population, then eating an animal such as a horse is just plain sick. Mongolians can do it because for thousands of years it's been a staple for them, they ate it to survive. A westerner coming to mongolia with the mindset of wanting to experience the mongolian way of life through their diet is borderline unethical. If you were to live with them as they do for a peroid of time, then it's ok. being gung-ho about it is not.

other animals that one should never eat, universally across all cultural lines, with the exception of for survival (imminent or historical):
Dolphins
primates
birds of prey
reptiles
dogs
cats
horses
elephants
bears

and that's about it.

insects are ok, if you can get over the gross factor.

Nope, I had a cobra shot in Vietnam though. That is a cobra's venom sac in some sort of booze. Friggin' trippy stuff.
