CALO is a good program.  I encourage people on this anti-program attack website to praise CALO.

Sincerely,

Ken Huey

CALO potential for harm and profit

My point of contention with CALO is that they are risking exacerbating the very problem they claim to treat . Causes of Attachment disorders are attributed to abuse and neglect, constantly changing caregivers and institutional care.

As I’ve said before, (considering the causes of RAD) for many of these children being uprooted again amounts to re-victimization. Providing a secure environment of consistency and love cannot not be outsourced.

Without truly reaching the underlying issues or creating the trust required for developing bonds treatment cannot be had.

Any potential success for that involves the whole family.  The children sent off to this facility will likely be returned with more anger, distrust, and resentment than they had incurred do to their previous hardships. Any appearance of them having been “fixed” would probably have quite a lot to do with them suppressing their justifiable outrage at this due to fear of having more of such measures taken against them

I wonder how Ken Huey and the other directors who have targeted this diagnosis as a specialty reconcile the contraindications of what they have to offer these families…

Oh right, it’s au courant, right up there with oppositional defiant disorder as the nouveau diagnosis for targeting placements in order to keep those beds filled.

Pet therapy in the program? If you think your child would find healing benefit from caring for a dog,
then go to the local shelter and adopt a suitable companion. Don’t send your kid to the pound.

I called CALO weeks ago.  I told them my name was Nick Gurtz.  The secretary said it loud enough so other staff could hear it.  I asked her "Do dogs have anal sex at  CALO?' "  She was not happy.
