"Jim Sir" made fun of my friend's son's weight issue - which was a MAJOR reason why he was there. Don't try to patronize or immortalize Jim Sir. There are plenty of kids who could tell you about a really bad side of him. If that's what you want - Game On!
then game on.
you're friend's son is a humorless and overly sensitive pussy. Jim Sir made fun of everyone, not just your friend's fatass son. He's a Colonel, served in vietnam, what do you expect? and he's not the stereotypical mean drill sergeant/colonel, he's a funny sarcastic one. Like the surfing aficionado from apocalypse now. He was about as harmless as a fuzzy white bunny. If you're friend's fatass son (let me guess...brianL) couldn't take it, then he was a pussy. No one I know ever took offense, or took personally, anything jim sir ever said. Everyone i know from HLA has only positive memories of him, if you had a facebook account, you would have been taken aback at the response to his death on people's statuses. Seriously, Jim Sir would talk about dorm C (females) GRAZING (like cows) lower left on a weekly basis....because the females, unlike the males, did nothing but sit around at the field. hence the cow analogy. no girl ever thought twice about that. Or the times he would make fun of the music kids; telling the whole student body about how damn annoying they are, and how there a bunch of geeks who like to pleasure themselves with strings tied to boxes. no one thought twice about that either, considering jim was an excellent musician himself. He would make fun of the weight-lifting lovers, and call them juicers and meatheads. or the soccer team, for being wannabe europeans. He would send off the wrestling team sometimes with a "good luck with the humping". he would even make fun of the AA kids, telling them to enjoy their bi-weekly coffee binge. It's a long laundry list of things, and your friends lardass son seems to be the only flaming pussy around who is so humorless and wussified that he takes offense to anything jim said to him.
Anyway, if you're a fatass, and you get sent away for being fat, wouldnt it be in your best interest to have someone point out that you're fat daily and force you to exercise, rather than coddle you and ignore your problem so you can continue to live in denial?
Understandably, Jim SIr did exhibit behavior that may be interpreted by someone who doesn't know him as mean. he's just funny, in a mean way; or mean, in a funny way. again, not someone who's mean comments should be taken seriously. You have to draw the line somewhere at what abuse is and isnt. alot of things that went on at HLA were abusive, but unless you think every fat kid should be coddeled like a baby well into their late teens, and their weight ignored, than you are just a big fat stretched out spoiled pussy. There were abusive staff at HLA and Jim Sir was definitely not one of them.
this kinda reminds me of the movie full metal jacket. you're friend's lardass baby is like gomer pyle (the guy who shot himself on the toilet), and Jim Sir is like the drill sergeant. Gomer Pyle was just a weakling that did not belong in boot camp in the first place, and would have been a liability on the battlefield anyway; and it was his own fault for not getting with the program and loosing some weight. He just wanted to be coddled by his mamma, and couldnt take some guy screaming in his face with a grain of salt. Jim sir was alot more mellow than that drill sergeant, ALOT more mellow. Survival of the fittest. Natural selection. that's all i got to say.
It really grinds my gears that some people think that anything, any sort of unpleasant interaction, as abuse or harassment. It's one thing to be forced to carry a coffin full of nutter butters in freezing rain up a mountain and it's another to be called a fat when you're morbidly obese. Kinda like the torture/interrogation scandal, where terrorists were complaining about being forced to stay up for a few days or get waterboarded. guess what? ever heard of a fraternity? most fraternity's pledge processes are no easier, including the one president bush, his dad, and john kerry are in. The guidelines for the so called "abusive" interrogation practices are almost entirely based on fraternity pledge processes. anyone who's been to college can attest to that.
