Has anyone ever noticed that while schools can be around for decades, most wilderness places don't last more than about 10 or 12 years without some sort of controversy either leading the state to shut them down or their reputation to just becoming so bad noone sends their kid there?

A lot of regular style programs also seem to have a short lifespan. Although, the name of programs and brochures might change but it always seems like the same people are involved.

sage walk (industry leader 12 yrs)
north star
challenger
pathways (closed with kids infected with flesh eating virus)
Obsidian trials (restraint death its leader had a best selling book on disciplining teens)
Aldredge (repened under new name but closed because of ryan lewis)
Skyline journey (reopened but did like 3 years or so? before killing a kid)
Alternative youth adventures (caleb jensen's killers)

to name a few. i appreciate that some schools fold quickly but tis appears to b as much for economic rsns as aything
