In light of the fact that the tax-payer subsidized religious society AARC is now suing it's former clients, let's look at the role our elected officials are playing. Although Alberta Health was funnelling several hundred thousand a year to AARC, and the Government also chipped in a few mil for the AARC expansion, Health Minister Ron Leipert abdicates all responsibility for addressing the issues raised about AARC on the Fifth Estate:
"Well, I don't know that there's much else I can add to what's been said in my previous two answers, Mr. Speaker. I do want to add one thing, though. I was in contact this morning with Dr. Dean Vause, who is the executive director of AARC, and he wanted me to know that at his own initiative he has asked the Calgary Police Service to come to conduct any kind of an investigation that they want to conduct, to interview, talk to anyone they want to within the program. I encouraged him to continue to do that, and by doing that I wouldn't make any further comments."
So Leipert encouraged Dean-o to let the police do their jobs. Nice work fellas. You can take the Stalinist fuck out of Kids, but you can't take Kids out of the Stalinist fuck.
