Disclosure-Where is the OP Description
« on: August 18, 2003, 08:33:00 PM »
The description of OP (Observation Placement) is not described on any of the documents or websites. Does it say anywhere that your child will lie on their stomach for hours on end (into days, weeks, months), and may have big staffers sitting on them, oh, does it say they can twist there arms back to touch their heads? Does it say anywhere that torture is part of the behavior modification process? Did you really want your child tortured? Is that what loving a child is about? I thought I was getting my child help, not harm.

Maybe is WWASPS put a full disclosure of what could happen to your child, and what doesn't happen, you may have looked for a real TBS.

A  REAL  TBS?

In case there are those under the delusion that "real TBSs" do things differently... you're wrong.

The facility I have experience with did not disclose the particulars about "restriction".
Did mention it in the first parent visit, but lied to parents about having the "restriction diet" approved by the local health dept.
Didn't tell parents a child could be on restriction for months on end for minor violations, while consuming a starvation diet.

They had the same phone/visit policy as WWASP.

They said they did not use restraint, but rather de-escalation. Not so.

Any negative reports were labeled "manipulation" and consequenced.

The "counselors" were young and inexperienced, often reading out of the manual how they should deal with an issue.

"TBS" does not gaurentee safety or better care.

Sorry Deborah, it was only a figure of speech. I cant help but think there must be TBSs that do have doctors and teachers and dont abuse kids. I dont know but I am assuming, maybe I am wrong but there is wishful thinking.
