Just out of curiosity, do they still play this song about three times/day?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5rbRg5Beb4Uh oh, someone's gonna get busted for lying in rap! Who could it be? Hope it's not me! That was rather comical looking back. How did our untrained peer counselors know when we were lying about an incident anyway? Oh whoops, I almost forgot about OTW training (Oldcomer Training Week), so I guess it's not fair to say that they had no training at all. Tell me, when you apply to become a peer counselor at AARC, do you actually provide a resume?
Education: Grade 9, with a PhD in Pain from the Alberta Adolescent Recovery Centre
Training: 1 week oldcomer training: Learned how to tackle kids when they try to run. Learned how to process someone's day (do you even understand how fucked up that is?). Learned how to humiliate kids on the zero club.
"The peer counselors, graduates of AARC, range in age from 18 to 22. Having battled and kicked their own addictions, they mentor, nag and confront newcomers. "You can't con the con man," says Dr. Vause. "These kids don't come here because they see the light - rather, they feel the heat. They're the biggest cons I've ever met. They are not honest; they're addicted and they're nasty. So we have a philosophy: bad manners only understands bad manners. We get in their face. We have to meet them on their level. They can't come in here and run the system. They're masters at bullying other clients, or manipulating to get the heat off." "We don't let that happen here, and that's why AARC works," he says.
"All peer counselors are required to furthering their education while working at AARC. Many have degrees, giving them a powerful blend of real like experience, clinical expertise and academic training." :roflmao:
Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies.... Darn it, just when I finally got that song out of my head.
