the HYDE FOUNDATION: bringing LGATs into Public Schools

--- Quote ---The mission of the Hyde Foundation is to establish a better way to prepare American youth for life by introducing and then developing the Hyde character development program in schools, families, and communities nation-wide.
At the center of our philosophy of character development lies the belief that every individual has a unique potential. Our schools and programs are designed to enable every member of a community to explore the depth and breadth of this individual potential. We are inspired as we see students, families and teachers grow in confidence as they take on new challenges and develop their capacity as learners and leaders.

Is this just marketing bullshit or ... outright lies?!

You know I flip flop on that one. Deluded belief or cynical hucksterism? Does it really matter?

Btw, Bob Hoffman's assertion "I coined the word Quadrinity" would appear to be in direct conflict with Ken Ireland's attributing the origin of this term to someone else :
"Some key people are dead, among them Julius Brandstatter, the man who coined the word 'Quadrinity' to reflect the four aspects of being human— physical, intellectual, spiritual and emotional. I met Julius and his wife Miriam when they returned from Israel in the 70's; their work with Hoffman continued through the re-casting of the Process into the current seven-and-a-half-day format. In the opinion of most observers, their contribution was never fully acknowledged by Hoffman."[/list]

IPSES - Intellectual Development
In teaching to the whole student, intellectual development is attended to not only in the classroom, but across the curriculum. Using school meetings, Discovery Groups (advisory groups) and class meetings, the entire community discusses aspects of engagement in the Hyde process. The community discusses the concept of Unique Potential rather than simply engaging in the activities that lead to continued personal development. The concepts of the Hyde philosophy are not in the background, but rather are the tools in our hands as we learn.
The 8th grade at Hyde-Bronx is focusing on leadership. To explore leadership they will delve into historical models and living models of leadership. They will debate among themselves definitions of leadership and whether or not they believe leadership is important. In the intellectual debate, students move to incorporate an external belief system – the Hyde Words and Principles – into an internal belief system.
In the classroom particularly, students and teachers will examine the impact of attitude on learning. Intellect alone does not predict a successful learner. Each student's intellectual development is consciously tied to the necessary, parallel development of curiosity and courage.

I fail to see how forcing children to discuss cult dogma passes for "intellectual" engagement.

Yeah! Human development guru smack down over who coined the word "Quadrinity." If _I_ had coined it I would be all like, "no I didn't bitch, that was my brother or some shit. I don't be sayin' shit like quad didn't he, shit yo"
