Vacancy?
« on: October 27, 2008, 10:14:59 PM »
why were there NO cars going in and out of 6070 BHGP Milford, OH
either last Friday or tonight? Hmm, weird I tell ya, but it could be a
good sign though, since those nights are normally reserved for OPEN
MEETINGS. LOL. I sure hope them meetins got cancelled due to lack of
enrollment. Course, it would be devastating to learn that they were
simply moved elsewhere, it's not out of the question, but either way,
completely cool that there were NO cars at the old straight inc
buildin tonight or last Friday.

No cars at all?  No phasers at all?  That is truly amazing.  Keep up the good work.

According to recent reports and an ever-increasing accumulation of information, it appears that Kids Helping Kids is no longer treating [sic] anyone at the Milford location.

We will continue to closely monitor this situation. At this time, all information indicates that Kids Helping Kids is no longer in operation. We will keep you posted if any new information becomes available.

well, didn't they just move the kids? Outpatient treatment program in Ohio sends kids to HOST HOMES in Indiana? What is going on? If its vacant, that building is an extreme financial liability given the current economic atmosphere. Even if it wasn't a shitty economy, it would be insane to keep such a weight, right? I mean, one reason a business would operate in a building would be to generate funds to do such a thing. I would be very interested to see how long it can remain empty without being used, meaning, it's a large hole in the hull right now if PFC is a true non-profit org. hmm, also, if someone were to rent it, they'd be a party to the whole issue.   ;D

Pardon me if I'm coming into this convo from completely out of the blue, but...didn't I read something about them planning to use it for "assessments?" What exactly goes on in an "assessment" that you need a completely empty building for? Or is this merely PR spin to warp the public's perception?

Well, utilities and staff cost a lot of money. It is a lot cheaper to move a few families than to keep a building open for only a few kids. The building was granted to them by Tri-state...(dba KHK)..... but I wonder if there are any liens against the property. That is their business. Either way, they are losing money. They shouldn't be conducting illegal experiments on kids and calling it treatment. If they were a legitimate organization, they wouldn't be in this mess.

As for what they are doing and why, that has yet to be determined. I assume they will attempt to sell or lease the building soon. I am sure they thought this out months ago before they started to fire their staff.

No matter what has happened, this is a very significant happening.

@Ursus:

"Assessment Center" instead of treatment center is just a way to net Cincinnati parents for the "bait-and switch" and try to get business for Indy. I assume, it is also a way to keep a few staff happy before they are "let go" and ultimately for saving face. Definitely a big PR spin.

On the Pathway Family Center Home page, the Ohio location is no longer called "Kids Helping Kids, a Pathway Family Center".

It only reads, "OHIO" and then the address.

And on another note, take a close look at the address stated for the northwest Indiana location, it has changed:

NORTHWEST INDIANA and
CHICAGO AREA

804 Canonie Drive
Porter, IN 46304.
Ph:219-926-2583
Fax: 219-926-1833

Just what the hell is going on now? LOL... are they worried about a large fire? I mean come on, this is from the supposed tenant's website:

"There is a big difference between an inspection by your local Fire Marshall and an inspection by a licensed contractor. The Fire Marshall’s visit is focused more on checking the functionality of your system; however, not all devices and components are inspected. A licensed technician is focused on system optimization and will inspect and test each and every component to ensure that it is performing as designed by manufacturer specifications.

In any event, the ultimate responsibility for maintaining your life safety systems is not the contractor’s, not the Fire Marshall’s and not the manufacturer’s – IT’S YOURS! Building owners have been held liable for systems that were not maintained.

For more information, or, to find out how a comprehensive preventive maintenance program can be tailored for you, please contact:

"Pathway Family Center, 425 Sand Creek Drive, Suite C, Chesterton. 219.926.2583. pathwayfamilycenter.org. This substance abuse center for adolescents aged 10 to 21 helps youth and families overcome teen substance abuse and behavioral problems. Could they have moved to make protesting more difficult, or am I reading something wrong?

Also, a person who is 21 is no longer an adolescent.

They expect to lock up 21-year-olds?

@Psy: I am unsure.... I think they were sharing a suite with another business so it is possible they moved out to another location. They have insulated themselves politically up there with the local government and some community leaders. I can't really say what has happened, I think we'll just have to wait until our PI gets word.

@Bandit: Sometimes the program is in cahoots with local judges and prosecutors and they can court order people until they are 21. When I was in KHK in '87 there was a 21 year old guy who was court ordered. Also, many states are pushing to age 19 and even 21 when it comes to treatment for "troubled teens". The courts are being very lax about this and it is shady as hell. It has been going on for years but in Bush-America it seems to have reached a downward spiral. Psy could probably tell you more about this than I could.

Hopefully RG will catch a break and figure something out.
