Hmmm fascinating.. He went legit and is doing his time in the public school system. Reminds me of the Riddler and how he went onto become a vice principal or something of the sort.

Towns Rudy Bentz (1948—) has lived in, most recent first:

  • Santa Fe, NM (Rubin Educational Resources, Santa Fe School)
  • Shelburne Falls, MA (near ASR)
  • Cummington, MA (ASR)
  • Dahlonega, GA (HLA)
  • Running Springs, CA (CEDU)

No relative time frame on the following places, but I imagine Madrid is near Santa Fe, and Charlemont is near Cummington:

  • Madrid, NM
  • Charlemont, MA

Yeah, it struck me too, that every single place was associated with some program or means of getting kids into program.

Ironic that you used the phrase "trail of tears," since he is ostensibly now working at an American Indian school.

I wouldn't  call what Mel Riddile is doing going legit. I think it's more like infiltration.

When Brother JEB! took up digs in the Governor's Mansion in Tallahassee, that's what initially prompted me to focus my interest and efforts on the Program as a significant element of the War On Drugs (that we don't sell and/or require you to take). Here's one story that came up when I started digging into JEB!'s affiliations.

"Gov. Jeb Bush, who appointed Regier last month, is also a long-time Gothard supporter. Bush has no evident ties to the ITC, but he implemented Gothard's controversial character education program, Character First!, at his charter school in Liberty City. The governor also publicly encouraged the Palm Beach County School Board to approve Character First!, which is also listed as a model program in state law. " -- from "Culture Wars Follow this leader and your kids will obey their masters and join lockstep with God. Or else.

I suspect that the Riddler has been insinuating various kinds of thought reform into the public system in like manner as JEB & Friends. Here's a list of the 'alternative high schools' to which the Fairfax County Public School system send their non-conforming students.

And here's more info on that program:

Look for ol'e Rudy to carry out the same progrom wherever he lands. Meet me up in a couple of years and you can buy me a beer if you're wrong.

Does anyone know the school's name he works for? Why not forward experiences to its administration? If he’s working with N.A.s, he’s probably working working with a marginalized and weak population that’s therefore at high risk for his abuse…

It’s almost bound to happen, in fact. What’s his job description, and what happened to Rubin? Does he work at both organizations?

I forgot to mention a pit stop in between Rubin Education Resources and the Santa Fe Indian School. From perhaps June or so, 2005 to sometime shortly prior to or equal to "early October," 2006, Rudy Bentz worked at the Santa Fe Waldorf School. This was at least partially concurrent with his gig at the Rubin EdCon organization.

I went to the Santa Fe Waldorf School website to see if I could find more specific dates, as another fornits poster has posted some links to their newsletter here in the past, but they seem to have reorganized their website, and none of my searches of their archives were successful. It is also possible that they may have erased all mention of him from their website, haha!

Here's something from their newsletter that was posted by Guest on Sunday, July 16, 2006. My guess is that this newsletter came out in June; but then, I don't really know anything about the Waldorf school year...

-------------- • -------------- • --------------

Rudy speaks:
From Waldorf School Newsletter:

Greeting families, friends and colleagues,

We tend to pause and count our blessings at important times during the year, such as Thanksgiving or a special anniversary or perhaps a holiday such as Memorial Day. For me, I would like to add one other time of reflection and thanksgiving to my calendar, which is now, at the end of the school year, as I take the time to look back on the year just past.

I will be completing my first year at Santa Fe Waldorf School next month. I must say it has been a most interesting and enlightening year. These past months have blessed me with a new world of friends and colleagues, as well as professional challenges and a depth of learning I never dreamed possible. However, among this bounty of gifts and grace, one blessing stands out among them all: the children.

One of the most beautiful moments of my day is standing on the playground before the school day begins and watching the parents and children arrive. The sun is always at the most perfect angle for light and shadow, sparkle and magic. Shadows stretch and swing around the trees and the garden and among the myriad of things the children have built or dug or simply left behind from the previous day's playing and learning.

Then there are the children, who run so fast to see their friends and pick up where they left off the day before. I sometimes see little more then a flash going by, with a wispy rooster tail of dust. I sometimes wonder as well: was that little boy who just flew by me at the speed of life really wearing a cape? Did I really see wings lifting that little girl gently above the ground as she laughed and waved to me on her way to the classroom?

And then there is that tender image of the parents, sometimes trying to find their own wings so they can keep up with their child, other times just standing by the old wooden boat, beaming with pride and love as they watch the children charge the school building once the bell has cracked the morning air.

And, finally, the children standing before their teachers, being greeted with smiles, gentle handshakes, a personal word or two. And then, ever so silently, the last child slips behind the closing classroom door and the real blessings begin.

So--to all of you--thank you for these many shining moments and all the grace and blessings we have shared together over this past year. I look forward to seeing you all again on the playground on the first day of school come September.

With warmest regards,
Rudy

Currently, Rudy Bentz is at Santa Fe Indian School. Their website appears to be maintained by the "Electronic Journalism class of 2006-2007." Not sure if the omission is due to philosophical reasons but...I was unable to find any page or descriptive section linking faculty with what they teach, or administrative personnel with their respective roles and responsibilities. However, I did find Rudy's email addy on THIS page (faculty contact list), in case anyone feels the need to keep in touch.
