hence my fictional character theory.

drama = traffic

It's "traffic" yes, but it's very high "noise", very low "signal".  I'd rather have high quality low volume discussion than pages and pages of babbling with a tireless troll, personally.

It goes like this.

Porn disturbs parents - so it is censored.

No.  Porn isn't censored.  All image posting is simply not allowed.  It you wish to link to a porn picture / scat porn / shock image, post a URL so people have an idea what they're going to look at.

WhoSpam disturbs survivors - so it is allowed.

And the solution is similar to the porn.  Choose to put him on your "foes" list, and you won't see his posts.

Why is this auction being dragged on for so long?
Because I was in normandy on vacation last week.

I'm beginning to sympathize with the theory that TheWho is just a web traffic ploy.  ::puke::
More web traffic costs more money.

I've been gone for a week too, but I doubt my input has been missed! Anyhow, anyway, what's up? Did The Who's account get auctioned off yet? Should I be scared? What's really going on?!!!!! Will we be alerted when it's the new Who? Just curious.

f you were never in a program, or a parent of a child in a program, then you have no business posting here.

This isn't the first thread that the moderators created to stoke more endless who drama. It was the moderators who placed TheWho's identity up for auction a while ago, and nothing ever came of that accept publicly accusing the wrong guy.

TheWho was banned already for flooding or commercial spam, but then he was allowed back when the current moderators took over.

I had a feeling this auction would drag on forever and then end with TheWho still here, and more people pissed off after realizing the futility of trying to have a serious discussion on this forum.

There is a reason why this forum is so slow, pity the people in charge can't seem to figure out why.

If you think TheWho is going to leave after this auction, if it ever ends, I have a bridge to sell you. Now TheWho can have yet another big laugh at the expense of those who try to take this forum seriously, when he posts under his new name. He has been the center of attention on this forum now for a long time, and this type of stunt only exacerbates that, which is his goal.

I can already see the moderators coming in, and saying well what would you do about it other than complain. Answer: I would of left him banned the first time.

Please don't start with the "we don't censor" bullshit. Posters have been censored, threatened, banned and had their identities posted on this forum and so the high and mighty "we are better than programs for allowing free speech" argument rings hollow.

A couple comments:

First off: the decision to un-ban TheWho was a unanimous one between ginger, myself, and kelly.  On examination, we found that Deborah's definition of "flooding" did not fit with an accepted technical definition.  There were other reasons, but that was the main one.  If he were considered to be "flooding" then so would be many other posters who posted as anon most of, if not all of the time.

Secondly: a bounty was put on TheWho's identity a while ago.  That means posters would pay somebody who knew who he was and outed him.  This would not be an outing by the "mods"/"admins" but by somebody who personally knew him and could confirm his identity somehow (for example, a coworker, employee, or even his wife).

Thirdly: posters have never been censored (with a rare eception of once where there was a flooding of porn and the respective posts were moved to a "grand unified gay porn" thread in the open free-for-all).  Now all image posting is disabled, which removes the human decision of what to censor, and thus it's not censorship, but a blanket change in functionality.  Posters have been threatened and/or outed, but only by other posters, not the administration (eg: Ajax13 was "outed", presumably by AARC...  Kevin's daughter's info was posted on the forum, presumably by PV).  In that case, it's a difficult decision not to censor, but those respective posts still remain on the forum.  We don't censor here without a court order to take something down, period.  Ginger will not allow it, and the buck has always and (FSM willing) will always stop there.

Fourthly: If the forum was slow because of the Who, that would constitute flooding in the accepted technical definition and he would be banned.  Sadly, that is not the case.  The forum was slow because we were on shared hosting and somebody else who was using the same shared server was hogging all the resources.  Now we're on a (more expensive) virtual private server with guaranteed system resources.  The forum shouldn't be having any problems in the future.

Fifthly:
Quote from: "futility"
TheWho already has a substitute account.

http://www.fornits.com/wwf/memberlist.p ... ile&u=4500
It's not TheWho's account, or a substitute one.  it's an imitator, like ThéWho.

If TheWho keeps his word, he'll stay off the forum.  That's really the best anybody can hope for.  Banning him has not worked anyhow.  He uses proxies, and when we banned the entire range (no doubt with collateral damage to legit posters), switched to dialup.  It's futile to try and ban him on a forum where guest posting is allowed and all that is required to get around a "ban" is to switch IPs.  The most anybody can hope for is if he keeps his word to stay off.

Back to the auction.....

Going once to Ursus for 90 dollars.

At the current VPS settings, that will last us for three problem free months.

Ginger banned the Who at a third party's request.  How do you benefit from continuing to blame Deborah? What about the truth is unacceptable?

HaHaHa Right.
Back in the day, Fornits didn't have to scam people for money to keep the site running. They were happy to donate to the cause. If you need money, you should charge Who a user fee, not rip off regulars. This site revolves around Who. He ain't goin anywhere until it's completely destroyed.

I was the one that suggested this, on my own.  You don’t have to get involved if you don’t want to.  No one is forcing you to bid.  Like you said you can donate the way you use to.  Here is a link for you:
