Discussion of Scheff's Wit's End on Amazon, how long do you think it will stay up?  The title will get Sue worked up.

Phyllis Stein said what?

Sue Scheff writes about herself like she's the natural successor to Mother Theresa while Scheff omits mention of the brutal physical attack on her daughter, her referrals to abusive nightmare programs like the Whitmore, the lawsuits dogging her for fraudulent representation...Wit's End misses the real Sue Scheff Truth: She profits from placing kids in treatment programs she knows to be dangerous and ineffective. She has befriended and done business with monsters. Gayle Palmer DeGraff, who was involved in two adolescent programs where two young girls died horribly. Randall Hinton, the ex-WWASP thug who tortured Layne Brown at Tranquility Bay in Jamaica daily, using pepper spray and allegedly scrubbing Layne's genitals with a toilet brush. Hinton said in an interview that Layne's treatment may have looked abusive, but Hinton felt he was equally abused by Brown. When Layne Brown returned to America, he was shattered and eventually committed suicide. Randall Hinton was charged with child abuse and quit working in the Troubled Teen Industry, still claiming victim status.

Scheff is still loyal to Whitmore Academy, the defunct program run by Mark and Cheryl Sudweeks. Mark Sudweeks was charged with animal cruelty and abuse in British Columbia. Horses Mark Sudweeks had on his ranch were found in a terrible state of starvation and neglect. Mark Sudweeks became the only person in British Columbia to be forbidden from owning any animal...yet he still had people entrusting their children to him. Cut to Mexico, and the Sudweeks adolescent program there: the Mexican government shut it down and kicked the Sudweeks out of the country for child abuse. The Sudweeks opened the Whitmore Academy, adolescent program upstairs, bed and breakfast downstairs. How did B+B guests react to seeing kids hurled down a flight of stairs by the belligerent Cheryl Sudweeks? Scheff ignored warnings from parents about the violent nature of the Whitmore's owners and continued referring kids to the Sudweeks' program in exchange for kickbacks, or referral fees. Juab County in Utah filed seven counts of child abuse and hazing against Cheryl Sudweeks, a woman Scheff described as a "good Christian woman with a smile can light up a room". The Whitmore was shut down for defying licensing and Cheryl Sudweeks copped a plea bargain to avoid a long, messy trial. Scheff's reaction was to post frothing-at-the-mouth blogs defending the Whitmore and it's disgraced owners.

One can only assume Scheff was very aware of her own liability regarding the Whitmore and the negative effect her longstanding alliance with the program could have on her business. Scheff rabidly went after a scapegoat and identified the mother of a girl who was abused at the Whitmore. This parent had been a vocal opponent of the Sudweeks and Scheff and presented an easy target - although how one parent could be responsible for the Whitmore's refusal to comply with state licensing or Cheryl Sudweeks' criminal charges was never explained. Scheff and her "associate" Isabelle Zehnder started posting vicious, defamatory blogs about the REAL advocate/mom, accusing her of sexual perversion and harboring dark "secrets" which Scheff and Zehnder promised to reveal and never did. Scheff attacked a group of her harshest critics by posting incredibly vile blogs about their personal lives, mixing innuendo with character assassination, even posting the addresses and phone numbers of her targeted critics. Many of the individuals Scheff attacked in the blogs were former friends and supporters she betrayed by taking referral fees from programs - PURE presented itself as non-profit, and Scheff's kickbacks remained hidden from the group of supporters PURE attracted. These allies viewed Scheff as a heroic mom, a mighty child advocate. Scheff's illicit income was revealed to her supporters as part of a series of shocking revelations during the WWASP v. PURE lawsuit.

Scheff's friendships are opportunistic, lasting as long as they are profitable to Scheff, and in her black and white view, there are two groups: those in her service and her enemies. Scheff's relationships seem to be self-serving and disposable, and anyone whose loyalty shifts from her, any former confidante who reveals Scheff's business dealings or openly criticizes their former boss is subject to Scheff's vengeance. Ask Carey Bock, a former Scheff associate who betrayed Scheff by selling her hard drive to WWASP. Scheff would not provide certain emails requested as evidence by the plaintiffs during the WWASP v. PURE lawsuit, claiming her computer had automatically deleted them. Carey Bock had the emails on her computer and exchanged her hard drive for $5,000 from WWASP. At one point, Carey Bock was on Scheff's witness list AND WWASP's. Bock later criticized Scheff on the internet in much the same way Scheff had gone after WWASP. Scheff sued Bock for defamation and won an 11.3 million judgment - and Bock wasn't even in the court room. Bock was displaced by Hurricane Katrina, and Scheff's lawyers waited until Bock was in transit to Texas to send notice of the court date to Bock's old address. Scheff is without conscience when it comes to dealing with her enemies. A young man whose journalism exposed Scheff's many sins and deceptions was accused of being a "sociopath" by Scheff in a venomous blog, and she cited his alleged difficulty maintaining friendships as one of her proofs. Oddly enough, Scheff listed some of HER betrayed acquaintances as friends of the young journalist, not realizing the irony.

Don't buy this book, Sue Scheff is a ruthless predator who views the children she sells into dangerous residential treatment programs as cattle, or a former associate. She exploits families in crisis for profit and once payment is made, her involvement is finished. The trauma of kids dragged out of bed by Scheff recommended escort services is rationalized. After the kids are kidnapped by the "escorts" - bitter ex-cops, failed football players - and delivered to the RTC, Scheff is already hustling more parents. Wit's End is another shakedown and a misrepresentation of Scheff and her motives. Pay attention to Scheff's promotion of Wit's End - her daughter Ashlyn is not involved, Scheff has recruited a young woman who went through an abusive program to be a surrogate daughter. The Lifetime interview with Scheff to promote Wit's End was an infomercial, too. Check Lifetime's archived video of Scheff's spot and it says "sponsored by Sue Scheff for Lifetime".

At the bottom of the page there's an invitation to start a discussion on Scheff's paperback emetic, not sure if you have to be registered with Amazon to post or not.  I wrote a review, too - they wanted RealName authenticator, but after you give your credit info you get the option of using a pen name.  It's discouraged, though.  I ordered two copies of Wit's End:  one to shit on and one to cover it up with.

I did a review, too, it takes 48 hours to go up if approved by the powers that be.  I never bothered to look at the fucking rules - no using URL's, no referencing outside sources, so I had to edit and not cite sources properly.  Sorry, Psy, I couldn't hang links or quotes on your work.  I don't think Scheff has total approval anymore.  The piece of shit book is dying a death anyway.  Did anyone else notice the Lifetime interview, the one with Kristin, was a paid infomercial?  Sue's going to break her blood-money bag trying to sell her magnum opus of Narcissism, self-deceit and delusions of grandeur.  If Ashlyn goes on TV with her mom to help pimp her spam sandwich, I would be amazed.  Ashlyn's read it I'm sure, she knows what her mom is all about and how deep the bullshit is about their "relationship".  She's probably embarrassed at Sue's "Messiah Mom" act - she's got Bono beat all to hell in pretentious wannabe savior shit.   Hell, cuz, I'd be ashamed as a muthafucka if my Mama churned out a rectal grinder like Wit's End.

Keep an eye on Amazon, but I imagine the review will be rejected and ArmchairLoser's sycophantic rave will remain the lone "criticism".

That reminds me of a news video that's floating around somewhere, I think it was shot at an open meeting in either Virginia or Boston. during  his introduction, this 5th phaser or 7th stepper thanked the group and staff for permanently paralyzing his arm during a restraint cause, otherwise, he might never have gotten his blessed salvation from himself. And Charlie Manson still has groupies too. Sad

It's like...it's like sayin', "Thank ya, oh perforated Jesus, for this outbreak of burning lesions on me pork sword.  I'd still be dabblin' in carnal ways if not for Your divine lovin' me and afflictin' my mutton javelin with festerin' black buboes,"

I'd gnaw me arm off to get shunt of Sue Scheff, were I to be draped all about her like that poor girl.  You get flesh eatin' boogaloos off her type of gutter looch.

There is not publically known evidence that Layne Brown committed suicide. I think out of respect for the Brown family it is a good idea to change this. Otherwise the post was a great idea.

Perhaps the OP knows more about Layne's death than the public.  I'm curious - it isn't publicly known Layne committed suicide?  What was the reason given for the young man's passing?  Surely not natural causes.  Watch Layne in Tranquility Bay and take a look at Randall Hinton and WWASP's  handiwork.  Layne's mother has always been open about the inhuman abuse of her son at TB and the catastrophic damage it did to him.

It's a simple matter to check, anyway.

Quote from: "Plastic Smile"
THat fucking grin of hers sure DOES look like SHIT.

No excuse for what she's done.

Over 70 restraints - physical, mechanical, and chemical - in six months.  Chemical restraints started with a base of Thorazine (outdated, but effective when you want to put a patient down quickly), then a cocktail of Klonopin, Zyprexa, and Haloperidol with Benadryl as a chaser.  A daily regimen of Lexapro and a frighteningly high dose of Abilify.  Dr. Gass threatened to up her dosage of Abilify by 5mg every time she was restrained, and her med records confirm he did.

Late in her treatment, Kristin complained to a nurse that she was restless and unable to sit.  Her eyes were "twitching" and records noted her "incongruent smile" - extrapyramidal symptoms.  Kristin was displaying signs of Tardive dyskinesia or Akathisia.  Both conditions cause symptoms that resemble Parkinson's disease.

Tardive dyskinesia and Akathisia are side effects of high dosages of antipsychotics like the Thorazine, Klonopin, Zyprexa, Haloperidol, etc., Peninsula Village administered to Kristin during restraints.  The increasingly high dosages of Abilify Dr. Gass was using as a punitive measure could cause the Akathisia.  Dr. Gass noted Kristin's condition, but increased her dosage of Abilify despite her symptoms.  If Kristin was suffering from Tardive dyskenesia, the most likely cause would have been the high doses of neuroleptic and atypical antipsychotics administered as restraints, with the neuroleptic Haloperidol as the most likely culprit for Tardive.

The combination of neuroleptic and atypical antipsychotics administered at high dosages would not be unusual for a patient diagnosed as psychotic or schizophrenic who is experiencing an extreme violent episode.  Kristin has never been diagnosed as psychotic.  Receiving such high doses of antipsychotics over a period of six months shows reckless ignorance on the part of the prescribing physician Dr. Gass.  If he still practices, he should have to answer for Kristin's over-medication and have his license yanked in my opinion.

Kristin, (if you're reading this) you said Dr. Gass prescribed naltrexone prior to your transfer to another program for agitation, which naltrexone would do nothing for.  Naltrexone is an opioid antagonist used most often to treat alcohol dependency.  It is marginally effective in treating opiate dependency.  There is no reason I can see for Dr. Gass to be prescribing naltrexone to you near the END of your treatment.  It makes absolutely no sense.  If you were brought to Peninsula with delirium tremens, naltrexone would be a logical choice in treatment.  The reason for the naltrexone has bothered me almost as much as nitwit's over the top administering of antipsychotics.

There is one possibility for the late use of naltrexone in your treatment that didn't come readily to mind because it indicates malpractice on Dr. Gass' part.  Knowing what I know now about Gass, it's time to consider anything as a possibility.  You were displaying the symptoms of Tardive and Akathisia, and Gass ignored them and inexplicably raised the dosage on your Abilify.  I don't have your records, but I don't think Gass would have noted what I'm going to suggest anyway.  Let's say Gass did diagnose you with Tardive dyskinesia and realized he was responsible for your condition.  First he should have ended the use of all antipsychotics with the possible exception of Klonopin.  There are several methods of treating Tardive.  Cannabis is one route, certainly not an option at Peninsula.  Klonopin or benzodiazepines (valium, ativan) would be the likely treatment used by Gass.  I don't know when the Tardive would have been diagnosed, but let's say it occurred at the three month mark in your treatment.  Given Gass' habit of going overboard with meds he likely would  have done the same with the benzodiazepines, especially since your restraints continued non-stop.  By the time your transfer date became known, there's a strong possibility you had a dependency on the meds.  Then naltrexone would make sense, although entering treatment without dependency issues and leaving addicted boggles the mind.  If the guess about the Tardive and benzodiazepines is correct, it's gross medical malpractice and again, Gass should have his license yanked permanently.
