There was a famous conjoined twin pair exploited by their parents earlier this century: Daisy and Violet Hilton. They were put on display as freaks in shows which garnered their owner/parents great wealth.

These “my kid was insane-look how bad they wereâ€

Ya there is a name for it too Munchausen syndrome.

Actually, it's Munchausen syndrome by proxy. (MSbP) Otherwise known as Fabricated or Induced Illness (FII).

Munchausen syndrome proper is when an individual feigns, exaggerates, or induces illness in themselves, and will do everything they can to stay in a hospital by doing increasingly bizarre things to keep them sick, such as injecting feces into their IV.

Munchausen by proxy is when the person, often a parent or spouse, continues to make their child or partner ill. This results in  both parties going to the hospital on a consistent basis. One, the afflicted, the other, the concerned caregiver.

There is debate right now as to how real FII truly is. Speculation persists that often the caregiver has valid grievances, but for whatever reason, is given this MSbP label because either the hospital fucked up and killed the patient, or the doctors' can't come up with a consistent diagnosis.

Not sure if either diagnosis applies to either scenario, here.
