Marie Osmond's Son Sent to Rehab

On tonight's "Larry King Live," the "Dancing with the Stars" star was blindsided by Larry King who asked if 16-year-old son Michael was in rehab. What would Brigham Young do?! She confirmed that he was admitted last week -- the same week Marie's father died at his home in Utah.

FYI - Larry King is married to a woman of the Mormon faith.

OMG - where did Marie get her statistics?  I hope she takes the time to educate herself because the statistics she quoted (75 % of kids under 18 apparently have some sort of problem) were not credited to any source that I recall her saying.  WTH?   She did say she has 8 kids and that this particular boy in rehab was adopted.

I presume the boy ended up in a rehab program in Utah.

Ugh. Sure would like to know which one and if he is doing a WT trek first.

So how is it YOU know?

Maybe you should call TMZ?  Or the National Enquirer.  They have done stories on celebrity kids in rehab before (WWASPS) (Provo Canyon).

I'm pretty sure someone already will have beat me to the punch. Besides, it's their personal business. When it comes out, then we can hate all over that place he's in, since that's what most of you love to do! Right???? All programs suck, and do no good whatsoever! LOL!!!

God CCM, you are so out to lunch, it isn't even funny anymore.

Personally, I believe it is their business - but the truth is - the youth rehab industry is unregulated and at least as dangerous as doing nothing for a kid who is alleged to need rehab.  How about those statistics for deaths in Utah???  Shouldn't Marie and Larry at least be made aware there is another side to this industry?

Second, I wish you'd get off that high horse of yours and try looking at this issue without the fucking "attitude".  You aren't stupid - you just choose to be blind.  Why?  This isn't about hating programs - it's about caring enough about children to stop making excuses for abuse.

I would like to compare statistics. Here are the numbers for Denmark (Age group 13-15).

The European School Survey Project on alcohol and other drugs - The numbers for Denmark (2003)

Drinking alcohol at least one time during the last 12 months: 95%
Been drunk at least one time during the last 12 months: 82%
Ever been smoking normal tocacco: 64%
Smoking the last 30 days: 30%
Have tried marijuana or hashish in lifetime: 23%
Same question about other drugs: 6%
Same question about inhalants: 8%
Same question about using others doctor prescription drugs: 4%
Been using alcohol combined with pills: 7%

No alarming numbers but numbers, which should ensure recruitment for the night owls, because if the youngster are having emotional problems while drinking or smoking, there should be adults outthere to talk with them.

What are your numbers?

Man, in reading the comments on TMZ's board it sounds like Marie Osmond is takingsome heat for perhaps being more interested in winning the Dancing With THe Stars contest than taking care of her 8 kids, 5 of whom are adopted.  This news about an Osmond kid being in a treatment program may help to shine a spotlight on this industry given Marie Osmond's high profile - but it could also backfire.  Her brothers all publicly endorsed Mitt Rommey for Prez on Larry King Live.  Marie is still "researching".  Wonder if we will ever find out what program this kid got sent to and whether it's in Utah?

CCM - can you at least tell us if the program is in Utah?  I think that's probably a given since that's probably where the kid lives but it would be nice to confirm.
