i lost my virginity in a program with two smokin hot girls at the same time. .. the stories i could tell.....

i hate programs but the behind the scenes action wasn't bad at all...

As a graduate of the TAR program I would like to say that it originally was a really great place to be. The guy who started that program was a really caring a exceptional person. I had a wonderful experience there and am happy my parents sent me off. It seems that after it was sold to the Aspen Ed group it has gone down hill and they have removed many of the really great thing I was able to do when I went to that program. I have not heard great reports from any graduates since TAR was sold to Aspen.
I would like everyone to know that at one time it really was a good program.

i got high every week my last few months at hidden lake academy.




and....




yup thats about it.




oh yeah, i got all in touch with nature at my wilderness and now i'm a full-blown tree-hugging pot-smoking shroom-gobbling hippie. and i also now have reliable drug connections from new york to san fransisco and everywhere in between.

the law of unintended consequences is the only source of positive experiences at programs.

You sound centered and doing well, good for you!!  Everyone gets something different out of the same experiences, it is so interesting to listen to different perspectives.

My son had a positive experience at Second Nature.  Even as much as he hated the subsequent program (Carlbrook), he still is really positive about 2N.

There was a place in Maine called Franklin Academy that I went to the year it started. I really liked it for the first  few months but  things got kinda out of control when they had to make major changes to get state  funding.

I think it is a boys school now. I don't know how it is now, they hopefully learned from their mistakes the first year.

Even though, in the end I had some bad experiences there, I can't help but wish them luck. They had for the most part, very good  intentions, they just needed to think harder to handle certain situations they were not ready for..

This guy Geller who worked at Elan in Maine, didn’t like the way Elan was treating the kids so he left and started his own place in the mid 1980’s

It's hard not to like Rabbi Geller

It was a long time ago, and I got  extremely angry about my situation for a while there, but somehow I can only dig up positive feelings for the Rabbi and his intentions.

I think, now my memory is foggy, that we started having problems after the  state implimented this "least  restrictive enviroment" rule in order to  recieve state funding, and we started getting kids straight from juvenile detention centers. The staff was trying to  deal with all these new issues and as a girl it began to feel like an unsafe enviroment to me.

I am told it is a "Boys Home" now, which I think would be a positive. I've tried to google it to  find out how it is or if it changed it's name but could find very little on it.

I'd definately look into  it if you are looking for alternatives, as they have been around a while now and have probably learned and changed a great deal since I  was there that first year. (Be careful, they could be part of Aspen now for all I know)

I think people should really look hard for alternatives before sending their child away somewhere where they cannot contact them. A friend of mind just  got her GED at  16 and went to community college and she is doing much better now.

Yes, usually all that's necessary to "cure" these kids is to have their gross parents cut ties as ,uch as possible
