Need for Unique Services
« on: September 14, 2007, 10:32:39 AM »
The AARC program is based on the fundamental that chemical dependency is a disease. Adolescent substance abuse is defined as a psycho-social, genetic, chronic, progressive and relapsing disease affecting every dimension of the adolescent and their family members’ lives.

Once a referral is made, the assessment process determines the extent of the adolescent’s chemical dependency. Youth who meet the admission criteria receive a full diagnostic assessment to determine an appropriate treatment plan.

Treatment fees are assessed based on a family’s ability to pay.

Professional Comments Regarding Need for Unique Services

Dr. Alan Stanhope goes on to comment in support of the need for AARC’s unique services, in a letter to Mr. Jim Dinning, written September 2, 1993: “ I am the medical officer who looks after the children who are in care at this establishment. During the course of my work, I have been involved with a number of alcohol and drug rehabilitation centres, and thus, I feel qualified to express some opinions on AARC. As you well know, there are very few treatment centres available in this province and, in fact, throughout Canada. Therefore, it is very fortunate that the Alberta Adolescent Recovery Centre was founded…I have been able to observe the program and to form some opinions as to the efficacy of this treatment…I can state without any hesitation that this is one of the finest treatment centres I have come across, and it is in fact unique in its particular format.â€

Dr. Lewis Andrews of the Yankee Institute, a free-enterprise think-tank.  No medical qualifications, no background in psychiatry, no background in pharmacology.
Dr. Lloyd Rootes, not a medical doctor, yet another professional 12-stepper.
Dr. Alan Stanhope complicit in most AARC confinements.  Stanhope's wife, in a complete breach of ethics used to send children to AARC.  His claims about AARC's unique quality cannot be explained as the program was stolen from Kids.
Carol Savage?
All of these fine testimonials, similar to those provided by Patent Medicine vendors one hundred years ago, came from the heavy selling period for AARC in 1993.  Since the place had been around less than two years and treatment takes one year, one could only speculate on the basis for their glowing tributes.
Keep on keepin' on David!

Ajax!  You're back!  I've missed you!  You're my favorite little oppressed monkey!  Like me, never been through a treatment, just ruffling feathers!  My pal!

Who the F is David?  Or do you just randomly throw out names like you do your "information" that will shut it all down?  C'mon!  Talk to me!

Missed you,
xo

Oh sorry.  I didn't understand that you were just a well-heeled philanthropist with no affiliation to AARC who simply came across this forum while looking for information on the composition of your hedge fund.  Your input is greatly appreciated.  David.

He may not have been through it but he sure knows his shit.  Go ahead, try and refute anything he's said.  He actually backs up what he says with sources.  Do you?  No.  You just run around like an 8 year old, "AARC is great"  "AARC rocks".
