ok, that makes sense to folks on the outside, but for folks who have to put up with it day in and day out, would be seem to be more like a humiliating thing to have to do, let's say, if the newcomer had that "shine" they talk about and had no serious thoughts of leaving?
Desperate people do desperate things. If I were trying to leave, it wouldn't matter what I was wearing, I'd just leave and deal with the lack of clothing I was wearing later. Using clothing as a tool of intimidation is a pretty screwed up way to treat kids. It's bad enough they can't wear t-shirts with writing on them. Jeez!!!
