I'd like to see patent's and copyright go as well. Patent's hinder progress, and copyright can be used to censor.
So this is a little off the topic of defamation, slander, and MILFs, but I just want to talk about Patents for a bit. Patents actually were designed to aid and speed progress by providing transparency in peoples work. By applying for a patent one has to provide all the details of what they want the patent for - so for example if you want to patent the wheel, you have to describe how to make it, where to get the materials for it, how it works, etc. Before patents, people would just keep everything they were doing secret so that NOBODY knew anything about what kind of new technologies were out there. But with the patent system, scientists have transparency and can gain insight from their fellow scientists progress which might then be used to invent something even further, rather than keeping everyone in the dark Cold War style.
Of course there is the whole issue of if you want to use part of what somebody has patented and the patent hasn't expired yet, but on the whole I think it's better than the other way around.
And I know nothing about copyrights, though I wish I did.
