See.  I'm kind of on the border as to whether or not this should be used as a partisan issue.  On the one hand, the democrats using the issue to bludgeon the republicans (especially Romney) would bring attention to the issue, but a better strategy, at this point, would be to give the ammunition to his republican foes.  Romney ain't nominated yet, and in my opinion, the sooner he can be knocked out of the race, the better.  In addition, if the strategy is sucessful, and this issue does topple Romney in favor of somebody who doesn't endorse child torture we would have a potential president on "our side" (providing he sticks to his guns when in office).  That would be the hard part taken care of, and with the congressional hearing, and a democratic majority...  It's a clear path for reform and/or abolition.

He's ok Zen.. I mean anyone who made that 9/11 movie can't be all bad... but I don't like how he came off to Pete Townsend when he (Pete) declined to let him use their song in his movie. From what I gathered of that, he behaved like a whiny bitch who didn't get a date on prom night.. Also his shitty, condescending attitude toward his underlings is anything but appealing...
When he was coming to GMU there was a big stink:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/ar ... Sep30.html

As I remember, after that happened, Moore said he was coming anyway to promote free speech, but later pulled out, whining about not getting paid 35k for a few minutes of his time.  35k for a speech... free speech.. ironic.  He ended up breaking his word (to get some publicity)...  He was portrayed by the campus newspaper as a whiny little bitch and he lost a lot of campus supporters...  Well.  in any case, he is a target you don't want to tie to an issue you care about.

If Moore's a whiny little bitch, he'll be surrounded in D.C. by sniveling programees who'll shame him with their bitching skills.  I know the average punter doesn't know shit about the troubled teen industry - a year ago I thought a therapeutic boarding school was a prep school with a lot of Psychiatrists wandering the halls.  Fuck me, I was quite wrong.

My reason for mentioning Moore is his films affect the masses. The ditto heads will always support whatever Moore is against without thought, but the programs could never go back into obscurity.  There is an awareness spreading because of the recent deaths - too many not to get attention.  I don't care if Michael Moore is a self-aggrandizing bastard or Crusader Rabbit, his films draw attention and encourage activism.

Programs can polarize members of a family, there's no way this issue won't polarize people to extremes.  Look at the extremes old Love-chunks Izzy is going to trying to dodge extinction.

Whatever brings awareness of the teen industry to the masses is going to split camps.

Crash, I'll ask about a concrete set of dates.  Man, all the Fornitscators could meet on the steps of the Capital and pull a number like the Pro-Life hacks in Jesus Camp, with people wandering around in straitjackets, and other people  pepper-spraying tourists so they can experience the reality.  We could do (simulated) demonstrations of fatal face-down restraints on volunteers for photo ops.

Yes, and have a rolling float decorated as a  moonbounce, as to resemble the rubber room at MW

I believe the hearing is for Committe members who are considering the bill proposed by Miller.  The Educational and Workforce Committee.

I also believe it is mostly parents of deceased children and survivors who will be testifying about their care and treatment, though its possible others will be asked.

So it's the report and testimony that will be given to the committee members.

Full on hearings before the entire Congress I have heard nothing about.

If that is in the works - it would be later down the road, I would imagine, if at all.
