Hyde School commentary now on Facebook
« on: June 15, 2007, 07:59:40 PM »
I just found out that a number of people have posted comments about Hyde on Facebook.  Most of what I've seen is not flattering or positive about Hyde.  There sure are lots of very angry Hyde students and graduates.

I wonder if the people who run Hyde are at all concerned that so many people have such horrible, critical things to say about the school.  Shouldn't that concern the Hyde administrators?  The Facebook publicity, so much of which is negative, sure would concern me if I were running the place.

So now there's ANOTHER venue for people who feel the need to speak out about Hyde.  They seem to be multiplying, which in my opinion is a good thing.  The Facebook outlet should help circulate information about the serious risks involved in sending a child to Hyde.  I've read some of the postings; they're quite critical of Hyde.

It's real easy to create a Facebook account: https://register.facebook.com/r.php

Here's a mere sample of some of what's on Facebook about Hyde (these are postings from different people):

No one should let Hyde take up any more of their life by gettin caught up with how fucked up it was when they were there, if theyre out of there. I made this group cuz I think it just needed to happen.
If you dont agree...I dont care

--------------------------------------------------------

WHEN MR LORD ASKED FOR AN EXPLANATION REGARDING HIS (wrongful) TERMINATION, THIS SAME GROUP OF HYDE FACULTY MEMBERS BLEW OFF HIS QUESTION, AND DID NOT PROVIDE AND SUBSTANTIAL REASON WHATSOEVER......(?)

THIS IS NOT AN ABUSIVE GROUP SO DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT REPORTING THIS ONE *U KNOW WHO U ARE*

----------------------------------------------------

IT IS MANY STUDENTS OPINION THAT THE SCHOOL HAS FALLEN APART AND BECOME TOTALLY DISORGANIZED. FORMER HEADMASTER WAS FIRED/ABDICATED ...
does anyone know why, that solely because she is married to mr big wig himself, Laura Gauld apparently is viewed by HYDE to have more merit and credentials, somehow, than Tom Lord?

THIS IS ALL MY OWN PERSONAL BELIEFS AND NOWHERE NO HOW AM I BEING ABUSIVE. JUST MAKING THAT SUUUUPPPERRRRR CLEAR. RAHLER

----------------------------------------------------

UGHH I FUCKING HATE THE GAY ASS HYDE FACULTY WITH A FIERY PASSION...MY REPORT CARD CAME WELL B AVERAGE BUT ALLLL THE "TEACHERS" (AND I PUT THAT IN QUOTES BECAUSE NONE OF THEM ACTUALLY KNOW HOW TO TEACH) JUST HAD TO COMMENT ON MY "BAD" ATTITUDE AND MY "DISRESPECT" TOWARDS HYDE WELL SHIT OF COURSE CAUSE HYDE FUCKING SUCKS AND ITS NOT NORMAL AND THOSE BITCHES R JUST MAD CAUSE IM OUTTA THAT SHITHOLE FOR GOOD GOD DAMN IT ONE DAY THEY R ALL GONNA PAY BIG TIMEEEEEE BESIDES THE NATURAL CONSEQUENCES OF HAVING NO FUCKING LIFE AND LIVING IN A DORM IN WOODSTOCK CONNECTICUT AND WORKING FOR A SCHOOL THAT IS ON AN ABUSIVE WATCHLIST AND THAT ALLOWS SEXUAL PREDATORS TO WORK THERE.

----------------------------------------------------

Um, I think another reason why the faculty hate working at Hyde is because they cut their bonuses every single year. I know this as fact, having heard it from several faculty members themselves. They'll remain nameless. I also know that Hyde's excuse for cutting these bonuses is that they don't have the funding to continue them, but then where are they getting the more than $300,000 a year they shell out to the Gaulds? Or the money they're spending on building new gyms and libraries? If you ask me, faculty should probably be their top priority. After all, they do kind of work 24/7 and are some of the hardest working people I've ever met. Hyde is run by money hungry douche bags, and that's sad. On the other hand, Hyde did help me understand life as a whole much better, but only because it exposed me to the types of people my parents sheltered me from my whole life. In a lot of ways, it exposed me to the real life my mother always sheltered me from.

---------------------------------------------------------

ast year the issue of laura gauld taking over as headmaster was mentioned many times over the course of our lectures. starting at the begining of this school year there were also many other major adjustments being made in the administration. i would assume from the tone of the discussions that they were experincing alot of problems trying to "control woodstock" so to speak. in the eyes of the higher ups placing laura gauld as headmaster of woodstock was a stratigic decision. she is the strongest leader they have as far as im concerned and this move was an attepmt to put woodstock "back on track" .... what also hapened is that tons of staff left, in particular recently and they have a bunch of inept staff that have less experience then the students they are sopposedly teaching. this is what happens when you have an overly stressful environment like hyde, noone wants to work there and the faculty turnover rate is extremely high.

------------------------------------------------------

haha now you guys are the kind of hyde students (or X students) that are actually normal. im at hyde now (just til the end of the year THANK GOD) and it fucking SUCKS i hate it soooo much its so...not normal

------------------------------------------------------

o hyde was the worst fuckin place on the planet and i beat the system. i was dirty the whole fuckin time but never got put on 2-4. i heard fucked up shit went down with mr. lord after i left. what exactly happened?

------------------------------------------------------

everybody please just chill
i know im not one to say this. but cmon. please please,
everybody that sees this will just be like, yeah they havent learned jack shit.
were supposed to be mad at the corruption, and your own situation that landed you there.
i swear to fucking god that im not saying this just to be like a hyde leader or whatever,
i just dont like seeing people putting each other down
cuz i was a little bitch in hyde, i know i was for sure
its killing me to see that shit. if i could do anything to change if i was back in that school, i would want somebody gettin my back. there are still kids in there that need to be fucking helped

i love you all just chill
help each other out

----------------------------------------------------

Yeah, Hyde does many things which I do not agree with but just be glad that you were at Hyde and not in Jail or in the Army fighting a war that has no just cause. Boarding school was still fun, even Hyde, if you make it what it is. Some people will choose 2-4 and others will choose to be proctors. Life outside Hyde is much harder and comes with way bigger responsibilities. I learned that the hard way by almost killing a girl when I was drunk driving this past summer. Some claim attitude changes or spiritual awakenings and thats cool, I just don't want to die before I get married and start a family. Hyde has given me a great deal, as it has to many of the people in this group. People grow the most from negetive expirences, trust me.. I know. Keep your head up, HYDE is not the worst thing in this world, we still have George W as a president!!

PS. There are no such thing as snitches, just delinquent immature "Gangstas" who get caught when snitching helps good people, Jack sorry

theres a lot about hyde that i do in fact disagree with but i know that i wouldnt be as strong as i am today if it werent for the relationships that i built there. i disagree with how they fired mr. lord and then how they acted about it. they wouldnt tell him why and when we wanted to have him speak at our graduation at first they refused and that pissed me off. i know that the money is being mishandled becuase hyde is in debt right now... i dont know. i hated the public embarrassment and the rumors that went around and are still going around. and the administration does nothing to stop it. i dont think anyone "likes" being at hyde. its inconveinient and you lose a lot of your freedom. college came with a lot more than i think i was ready for and a lot of fucked up shit has happened since of been here but i know that those relationships have helped me out throughout it all. and its those people that i turn to when i need help.

-------------------------------------------------------

yo nik kruse...i was there for the pact that you are talking about....and dood...Mr Lord knew he was controversial but I'm pretty sure he didn't do anything that warranted him getting fired. You cant fire someone for the opinion mannnnn ... You make it seem like he did that shit on purpose.

After the dedication that man showed his students, and his intollerance for the bullshit, the only thing that shoulda happened is they should made holmes headmaster or some shit and honor him at a ceremony. 4 real.

Im totally disgusted with the people who not only wanted him fired, but who let that shit happen. Talk about standing up the truth and all that and shove it down our throats..but when push comes to shove? NOBODY GOT THE FUCKIN BALLS TO STAND UP FOR MR LORD....add that to the never ending list of why *I BELIEVE* hyde is just 1 huge clusterfuck of egos. PEACE yall

----------------------------------------------------------

hyde is a fuckn mental facility. im not saying this because i hated it that much, but because it honestly ruins peoples lives. all te faculty think they are better than other people and that they are always right, when half of them were only 2-3 years old than me. what the fuck do they know?
fuck hyde and their fuckn rules. someone needs to call the board of ed. and shut them down.

-----------------------------------------------------------

hey guys so yeah i have talked to another faculty member who was fired and he/she told me some incredible stories about the inner workings of the administration that really irked me, to say the least. Can i just ask, does anyone else have odd desires to go back to Hyde and publically humiliate everyone up in deans area? Cuz i know i do. The place was perhaps the most hypocritical, egotistical, and manipulative place i have ever seen. And with a few exceptions, the faculty all bought in to the whole thing, a fact that is even more disturbing. And yes tim, who did report the last group? i have my suspicions, but still enlighten us wont you?

Very interesting.

I wonder if these people know about fornits, although it appears that the more recent grads gravitate more towards Facebook.  Perhaps there is a very small percentage who post on both?

Should i send my kids to Hyde? #1
« Reply #6 on: August 11, 2007, 10:24:03 AM »
-----------------------------------------------------------
The answer is no.
-----------------------------------------------------------
you're 100% right, XXXX......that is if you don't give a shit about your kids and their potential. You're going to make a shitty parent for not sending your kids, XXXX! consider the $40,000 as an investment into your child's future, not as a rip off tuition. I encourage you to take a deeper look into yourself and to ask yourself if you are holding yourself to acceptable standards. i think you're incredibly closed minded for saying such a quick no, and it disapoints me and i'm crying right now over how much you missed out on during your time at hyde. i hope you can use the next few days to reflect on where you're taking your life, because your attitude sucks!
-----------------------------------------------------------
you guys smoke way to much crack
obvi you shouldnt send your kids there send them to anywhere else
-----------------------------------------------------------
i think somehow going to hide will lead to my death
-----------------------------------------------------------
um, for the record my statement was 100% bullshit. first and foremost, i would never send my child to any school costing more than $40,000 unless they got a college degree out of it. second of all, i would never send my child to a high school they hated and be charged $40,000 for it. I think if it all boiled down to it, I'd send my child if they both wanted to go and desevered to go. I'd just have a hard time parting with $40 Grand no matter what boarding school you're talkin about
-----------------------------------------------------------
I wish I had the wit to express myself in the same way that XXX XXXXX did. It was wonderful. The sarcasm was [erfect, not too over the top.... I think he said exactly what I think, but could not produce on paper or monitor.
-----------------------------------------------------------
If I ever hear the word manipulative aagain I'll kill someone.
-----------------------------------------------------------
what none of you realize is that if your going to send your kids anywhere they should go to a GOOD boarding school so they are around GOOD kids. Hyde's biggest flaw is that it surrounds really fucked up kids with some kids who arent as fucked up, making them in time, REALLY FUCKED UP. When my kids start smoking pot in the 8th grade Im sending them to Hotchkiss so they hang out with a bunch of Jews who do work and are amazing at lacrosse so they go to ivy league schools.
-----------------------------------------------------------
XXXXX's right....XX XXXX is the perfect example, before hyde im pretty sure he didn't drink or smoke, or if he did it was only a little bit, but then after four years there he did shit like blow pills and start smoking a lot.....not really a great transformation eh?
-----------------------------------------------------------
hyde sucks
-----------------------------------------------------------
Ditto.
-----------------------------------------------------------
It's kind of funny how we've already graduated and we're still talking about it. Doesn't that say something about how it's changed each of our lives?
Hyde doesn't matter. I think it's pretty cool, but it's also pretty messed up in a lot of ways. In the end, we went and we left. I'm a better person now than I was going in, but I don't give that credit to Hyde. It just happened to be one of the things I went through to mature.

XXX, you're pissed off because you did nothing there. You probably feel like it was of waste of time because you spent so much of your time complaining about how it was a waste of time. I don't think that you understand that your life is your responsibility no matter what happens.
-----------------------------------------------------------
well dont judge me cuz of what i did at hyde XXXXXXX iam just sayin that shit was a waste of a high school education, two years of my life, and anything i could of done outside of bullshitting that i cared about what they did there. I am responsible and mature becuase i got older not because i praised words posted in a auditorium. Anyways thats just what i think. I could of told you the same thing when i was there but i would probably be back for another junior year or sent to live in a homeless shelter in portland.
-----------------------------------------------------------
i find it sad that so many people are wasting so much of their time focusing on things that you hated. it's not about hyde at all, hate it for all i care........i'm just saying that it's sad to see how much thought people are putting in to statements about how much they hate something. if hyde didn't work for you, then so be it......but why focus on what didn't work for you in the past when you can focus on how you can make things work for you in the future
-----------------------------------------------------------
Please all of you should just shut the fuck up. Hyde is a bad place it is a place for manipulators to manipulate and bullshitter to bullshit. Cant forget complete losers to be complete losers. Nothing good goes on here the reason the kids like the staff so much is because they are kids. If there were no boundaries at hyde what greg did would've been fine. If you think hyde helped you did u ever think maybe you wanted something hyde does not do it for you. Hey man all those times i was out to work i really learned a lot about myself i can succeed at raking leaves and shoveling snow.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Im glad that you were so succesful XXXX, good luck with that.
-----------------------------------------------------------
You talking about or yourself XXXX? I know i sure as hell didnt fucking listen to a word they had to say.
-----------------------------------------------------------
hyde is awesome. i loved it so much. gosh i wish i could go back. i guess i will have to just fail at life so i can go back and be a teacher.
-----------------------------------------------------------
yeah the oppurtunity to have a big fucking peice of tape over my mouth and be compared with students who i shouldn't be compared to to begin with because my experiences differ in a great way is such a wonderful oportunity! good thing i still talk to my four friends there...
-----------------------------------------------------------
You get out of Hyde what you put into it. Some people put a lot into it and get a lot out of it. Some people don't put anything into it and expect it to just kind of happen, and when it doesn't they get mad. That's pretty much the bottom line. Congrats to all those who got something out of it, and to those who didn't you need to just grow up and stop bitching about it.
-----------------------------------------------------------
The thing about honesty, you see, is that you can't actually give or recieve anything substancial in life if NOBODY AROUND YOU IS HONEST! Too bad nobody in my senior class was! In addition, IPSES? I'm sorry! There was absolutely no spiritual or intellectual aspect to anything at that school. Yeah, it would have played out well... compared to my first two years in MIDDLE SCHOOL!
...Oh yeah, and 'thats prettymuch the bottom line' to make that clear for you, if it at all.
But seriously, 'where are your expectaitions?!
-----------------------------------------------------------
If you don't like Hyde then don't join this group, it's reallly annoying to read these posts about how much Hyde didn't work or whatever. Leave the group if you don't fucking like it because how the hell would you people (the ones complaining that Hyde did nothng for them) know how it works for someone who got something out of it/ EXACTLY... SHUT UP PLEASE

And doesn't anyone feel bad about lying to so many people that you considered your friend for THREE YEARS because you didn't want to really live by what Hyde was teaching? It's a choice and all you people that graduated in MY CLASS dishonest and not believing in the system hopefully have gained a little bit of a conscience to at least care about the people that they lied to.
-----------------------------------------------------------
The anger on this wall is kind of lame, f.y.i. If you liked it and got something out of it, be a part of this group. If not, then don't be. It's pretty simple. The group's purpose is to logically lay out the pro's and con's of the Hyde education. Not to beat each other down. So some people grow up, other's don't take it so personally and let's all just get along.

Should i send my kids to Hyde? #2
« Reply #7 on: August 11, 2007, 10:32:31 AM »
-----------------------------------------------------------
This is the group were u post about hyde. "Should i send my kids to hyde?" If you would send your kids there i dont think there is a problem with this person expressing how they feel. Just you backing up your beliefs on a place you think you know so well but truly you dont know anything about what goes on there.
-----------------------------------------------------------
well, knowing that i say what's on my mind and wear my heart on my sleeve, i'm obviously an honest person. a very curious person also, may i add, who spends every waking moment of their life trying to gather more (i guess that sort of has to do with unique potential, no?) about it. now, i don't know if you processed what i wrote at all before, but the basic idea was that the words and principals that hyde is based on OBVIOUSLY had nothing to do whatsoever with anything going on there, hence the reason so many people were "surprisingly dirty." oh boy, i really hope i made myself clear this time. aside from THAT, XXXX is right, we should all just get along! everybody get together try to love one another right now.
much love
-----------------------------------------------------------
here's a couple of suggestions: if you all hate hyde so much, make your own group dedicated to hating Hyde. My second suggestion is to close this group. It serves no purpose other than for people to hate on Hyde, and to me that's just kind of a waste of time. I've hated Hyde, I've been bitter towards it....but I'm finding that it's a pretty big waste of time to focus on how much I may have disliked something and that my time is much better spent looking forward to the future, and more importantly on how I can make experiences like Hyde (experiences I may not have enjoyed 100% of the way) make me a better person down the line. I can't stress it enough how much I hate wasting my time, and I just think focusing on hating Hyde (especially years down the line) is a huge waste of everyone's time. So the bottom line is that if you hate Hyde so much, quit wasting yours and everyone else's time and just form your own group
-----------------------------------------------------------
i hope XXXXX grows up to marry a fucking 10 and to make more money then all of you.
-----------------------------------------------------------
XXX has magical powers i guess. He can see the future. I do not need to make my own group XXXXX. The people who hated hyde will be better off in life then the people who embraced it. The person who will be best off are the people who beat it. Look at the previous graduates who embraced it name some who are doing well?
-----------------------------------------------------------
I'm feel pretty confident when I say this: whether or not you did "well" at Hyde has very little to do with how successful you will be in life. There are plenty of kids who did "well" at Hyde and have struggled since, and then there are those kids who left Hyde or graduated dirty who made a place in the world for themselves. It's all about what you want from your life, and odds are that if you worked hard at Hyde then you'll take the work ethic into the real world. For those who don't work so hard at Hyde, the transition into the real world might be a little bit trickier. I can say that from experience. At the same time, though, I can also say from experience that what work ethic I did develope at Hyde has helped me get back to where I need to be. It's really all about you want out of your life, not how you spent your time at Hyde. It's pretty stupid to think that your performance at Hyde will dictate the rest of your life. It was an experience, and it's up to you if it was worth it.
-----------------------------------------------------------
I have a question. What is doing well? we toss that phrase around as if success is easily measured by the people around you. If doing well means that there are no problems in your life and you have all facets of your life in perfect order than I dont want to be "doing well" I want to fuck up and get arrested and fail and drink too much because I have lived a richer life doing that than I have "doing well"

Oh and just aside peoples "performance" at hyde does not have anything to do with their performance durring the rest of their lives. different people take different paths. I am living proof.
-----------------------------------------------------------
XXXXX, i don't think i have ever agreed with you more. not in the sense that getting drunk and arrested is a good thing at all, but all experiences should be valued. you can't say that the only defining moments of success in your life are the ones you've experienced at hyde. we can learn from a variety of experiences. and i don't think it's a good idea to think hyde has taught you everything you need to know- because NOBODY is omnicient! we all need to learn more our whole lives. or else there isn't really a point in living. and "doing well" is a vague term to use. is "doing well" acedemic, emotional, mental, or.... what? you can't define "doing well" for another person! but regardless, hyde is a place we all stayed for a long time. i like and dislike differnt aspects of it, just like every other place in the entire world that i have been so far. nothing is complete hell or complete utopia. to expect that from going to a different place is just going to let you down.
-----------------------------------------------------------
I agree with two things said [above]. A) everyone has their own paths and, B) that everyone who went to Hyde did take something away from it. The principles and ethics of hyde aren't theirs. They have been around for millions of years. They just put some structure to it. And I believe that people bashing each other on this wall is just a waste of time. I believe we should just share our own experiences to help those who question whether or not to send their kid's to Hyde. The arguing back and forth helps no one.
-----------------------------------------------------------
I didn't do "well" in Hyde's eyes, and that's fine because I will bet my ass i'm doing better than just about all of the "good" Hyde kids...Don't think so? Don't care.
-----------------------------------------------------------
even tho i fucked around at hyde i still got alot out of it- how you appeared in your senior year at hyde doesnt dictate how the rest of your life goes especailly college and right now my life is plush- for those of you that are interested im turning in my certificate for graduatiing dishonest however
-----------------------------------------------------------
I don't attribute my growth over the last three years to Hyde school. I earned it, and because I earned it, it's mine. I've had both success and failure since I've left and it's all because of me, not where I went to highschool. My gratitude comes from the fact that Hyde gave me a structure, the people there gave me the encouragement and direction that I needed to build a strong foundation. I can lean on that foundation that I built at Hyde when I hit rough spots, and I agree with austin, my messy shit is what makes my life woth living. Really, the #1 thing that I left with was some worthwhile relationships. Like XXXXX XXXXX said, you've gotta pause when someone asks you about highschool becuase you can never really explain what goes on there between people. You guys can hate all you want, not my problem, but you know just as well as I do that when Hyde people see eachother outside the walls, there's a strong bond there.
-----------------------------------------------------------
why did XXX just make a second graduation speach? I'm high and it's freakin me out. sup all?
-----------------------------------------------------------
no! it'll be the biggest mistake of your life!!
-----------------------------------------------------------
i would never send my children to hyde
look how it turned out for my parents i was there for like six months fucking around till i got pulled now my relationship with my parents is the best its ever been and i can actually have fun through out high school without being told what a miserable person i am for it
-----------------------------------------------------------
college is too hard......i don't like it other than being able to do whatever I want, and that usually gets me nowhere.....scratch that, it usually takes me backwards.......Money aside, I'm not so sure I'd send my kids to Hyde......yes, I got a lot out of it but I feel like I was so sheltered from the harsh realities of life and the lack of self motivation that I'm really strugglin with spending my time to the best of my ability....maybe this is because I went to hyde and was told what to do for 3 years, maybe it's because i'm just retarded when it comes to making decisions.......but having adults make every decision for me for 3 years couldn't have helped my cause......so i have mixed feelings about what i'd do with my kids, money aside
-----------------------------------------------------------
eh. the problem is that the veiw of reality there is, well, completely dellusional. being truthful to yourself and wanting the best for your friends and your life is reasonable, but forcing people to be a "leader" (a bossy fascist, rather) is not exactly important. as well as the obsession with material things that everyone there has. truth is important, but i don't see truth there very often AT ALL. mainly because people look down on others qualities (unless you're good at sports) to a degree where people are scared to be themselves. almost like everyone there is dead...

Should i send my kids to Hyde? #3
« Reply #8 on: August 11, 2007, 10:33:55 AM »
-----------------------------------------------------------
I don't think a lot of kids are scared to be themselves, but that they become confused as to who "themselves" really is. Most of the kids I see going through Hyde change for the wrong reasons. They change their lives to please other people rather than themselves, and that's were kids run into problems. I learned that by being myself I would get some shit, but that I would get more out of staying true to myself and changing for my own well being than to have to rely on the influence of others for change. This is why I'm pretty much the same person now that I was when I went to Hyde. I still like helping kids, I still crack jokes, and I still made retarded decisions sometimes. I wish most of the kids that take a diploma would understand this, because a lot of them don't and Hyde just becomes a waste of an experience to them.
-----------------------------------------------------------
You guys should get a life... stop writing for extended periods of time on lame ass grp walls i come here when i am high to laugh at how retarded the conversations are.
-----------------------------------------------------------
XX, there's no point in you wasting your time insulting me. Why should I take anything you say seriously? You are one of the most insecure kids I've ever met in my life. You lied about stealing trail mix and cookies on outpost. You wore big clothes around Hyde to hide your jellyrolls. You shit on the walls of your dorm and lied about it. You send emails to Hyde posing as other kids. You smoke weed by yourself and insult people on facebook. You probably get made fun of at school. You did at Hyde, and I can't imagine you do anything different now. You talk a big game online, but it's funny cuz I don't remember you ever doing that to me or anyone else to our face. And if I remember correctly, you took everyones shit......so I agree with XXX that you should get a fucking life and stop wasting your breathe trying to make fun of people, because I just laugh.
-----------------------------------------------------------
no, unless you want your kids to be completely stifiled

hyde either brings out the best in people or the worst, probelm is alot of people are just shitty on the inside and use their power to exploit others
-----------------------------------------------------------
thnaks for motivating me to re-join this thing, XXXXXX. well, one thing it exploits is the fact that over time, people actually change. i'd hope people grow up within one to four years! it also exploits conspicuous consumption and people who are good at team sports and nothing else. but those sad horrible things aren't the point! the point is to let these ideas become open to your interpretation. the same kind of ideas that would certainly not support conspicuous consumption. i mena, it's supposed to be a community...
-----------------------------------------------------------
unless you seriously want a death wish, DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS TO HYDE!!
-----------------------------------------------------------
well put, XXXX. it definitely took a huge toll on my immune system. it sure took something like twelve years off my life.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Hopefully after 3 years of Hyde, plus more years of mentoring, plus more years of being an uncle, I would have the skills to teach my kids everything that they might learn at Hyde.
Sure, the school does great things, but looking back on activities like PA, I am certain that not everyone needs structure and discipline that smacks totalitarianism. I did, because I was a real asshole, but I think the same tools of self-reflection can be imparted on others through less "ridiculous" means. I am not at all bitter towards the school, in fact I have a lot of gratitude; I just think that if I can teach my kids what I know (which goes well beyond what I learned over 3 years), then Hyde would be a waste of 40k/year.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Well I will say it was definately the right thing for me, but will it be for my kids? I don't know about that.... there are plenty of people in the world who have done great things without going there, so I don't think it's necessary for everyone. Would it be a good thing for my kids? Yeah, I think so actually. Ultimately though there probably is no choice as I don't think I will have nearly enough money to pay for it...
-----------------------------------------------------------
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha r u kiddin
skiooo
-----------------------------------------------------------
Look. Mrs. Hurd isn't going to even be the headmaster next year, and Paul Hurd may be leaving as well. I don't want to sound cynical, but by the time I have kids, Hyde could just be another boarding school, so what exactly would be the point?
-----------------------------------------------------------
i find it sad that some of you guys can't move past your crappy experiences at hyde. if it did nothing for you, stop thinking about it! if you learned things and it was detrimental as well, take what you learned and move the fuck on! we have the rest of our lives ahead of us. why get stuck in crap that happened years ago when you can get the fuck over it and move on with your life? this is petty crap. i'm not in high school anymore. see ya later.
-----------------------------------------------------------
My unique potential is to take over command of the Autobots once Optimus Prime retires from active duty. I've learned that drinking lots of water is very healthy, all work and no play makes XXXXX a dull boy, chilling with professional athletes can be cool, a picture's worth 1,000 words, the word "shit" never gets old, the more you complain about something the more likely it is to change, alarm clocks are stupid and never go off when you tell them to, trying is too hard, aviator sunglasses are sick, pre-pubesant beards look disgusting and dirty and a lot like scrotal hair, growing a mustache looks especially funny when you can't even grow real one, people that hate and harm children suck, old ladies are rad, fat white people are crabby, fat black people are funny, Al Sharpton is stupid, baseball is a good reflection of one's character, voting republican in Maine is like voting for Mickey Mouse, and old people shouldn't be allowed to get their licenses renewed if they suck at driving.
-----------------------------------------------------------
hey XXXXX...did it ever occur to you that some "crappy" experiences in life cannot be forgotten?...when i was at hyde i had some pretty traumatizing experiences that had i not experienced, i would probably be a different person right now, a better person...think before you speak
-----------------------------------------------------------
damn, XXXXX you hit it right on the money. i posted something similar on the group about "theraputic" skoolz. cant imagine what the dude [above] me is talking about, must have gotten prison-raped in the dorms too many times...or JIMMY TAPPED or HAZED haha who remembers that shit? faculty could blow anything and everything out of proportion...anyway as for the topic, just dont have kids! then you wont have to deal with the dilemma and this monumental decision.
-----------------------------------------------------------
hey XXXX, now i understand that being shipped off to boarding school may imply that you're a spoiled bitch with absolutely no real life experience whatsoever, but it angers me when you refer to your hyde experiences as, "pretty traumatizing experiences." fucked up things are likely to happen to just about anyone at hyde, but as far as, "pretty traumatizing experiences" go, i think i'd know a bit more about that than you, seeming as how i was beaten until i was three, taken away, separated from my sister, put into foster care, and didn't have a family until i was six. what seemingly "traumatizing experiences" happened to you, did somebody catch you smoking pot?

The above posts are from a group called "Should i send my kids to Hyde?"

Search Groups for 'Hyde'
most are not our Hyde, but several are
when youre looking at a group, checked similar groups column on right
similar groups often contain some of same members, some are Hyde (with no Hyde in name)

some groups are open, anyone can join
some groups are by invite only, you need to ask to join
some groups are invisible, you only find out about by being invited

A great thing to do is create a few one page google websites with those phrases. And then either  have it be a page that gives them answers, gives them links here or both, and someone they could contact.  Course the key is really finding out the myriad of phrases that people actually search on for things like this.

"haha I wanna go to that shit. that would be funny as shit. any one there for when bragg threw that bitch **** down the hall of new dorm and out into the loung??? that bitch tried to call the cops."
[from the wall of: Hyde Bath (We're hardcore damnit)]

"That said, HYDE is run mostly close minded and backward. And unqualified. No one should let Hyde take up any more of their life by getting caught up with how MESSED up it was when they were there, if theyre out of there. I made this group for everyone HYDE ever shitted on." [from the Group Info of: HYDE IS FLAWLESS AND 100 % RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING ALWAYS]

"it's ridiculous how they treat certain kids who are branded as "off-track." it's cruel to punish kids by docking them off sleep time, especially considering that they don't get enough even if they go to bed at lights out and wake up at wake up. in fact, the only way it's at all possible to get your 8 hours of sleep (the recommended minimum by pediatricians), you would have to be asleep at or before 10:30pm, assuming wake-up is at 6:30am. But this NEVER happens, and I can't remember one night my senior year, even before we got independence, that we as seniors in our dorm got to bed before 11:00pm. Most of the time, we'd crash close to midnight and wake up at 6am. But at the same time, I did meet a lot of cool people through Hyde that I still keep in touch with..."
[from the wall of: i'll put it simply... hyde sucks]

My apologies if any of these particular quotes have already been posted.

And now,
a nice, simple statement from a group on MySpace
(called HYDE SCHOOL PEEPS):

"The boarding school is bad news!! Stay away. It is like a Cult!"

That being said, I still carry respect for most of you and if you want to let me know how your REAL lives are going I'd love to know. You can reach me at my work phone any time.
