HMmmm... I have to say, with all due respect, that the obsession with attempting to disparage people using allusions to their sexuality and/or gender appears to be quite distinctive to this forum.  It would seem, perhaps, that it is only a few personalities on this forum.

Lexa, given that you and Tag both have each other as your very first friends in your respective MySpace profiles, I imagine you two already chat a great deal.  Does make one wonder just how to adjudge whatever else you have to say...  With all due respect, of course!

I think Ursus is female.

I also think Elanified Fucks from the 80's are damaged goods ( not entirely their own fault), as it seems Elan was very different back then.

You can all now stop, and sleep well tonight knowing that Elan has definately changed rather significantly for the good, perhaps because of this forum and perhaps not.

I have to say I agree to Ursus being a female.LOL
Tag, you and I should chat sometime..You sound like you have your head on straight!

I guess I am an Elanified Fuck from the 80's
Back then I would have told you to "Leave my friend Ursus alone of I will attack you Physically!!"
For now I will just say if you want to insult People on this Forum use the Private Messages.
Nobody wants to hear anybodys half-baked opinion.
Now you can stop playing G-d and come back down to earth.

<----- Is coming back down to Earth now. sorry bout that

If anyone on here was that serious about closing Elan down they would have just drove up there and simply burned the place to the ground themselves. As it stands no one has the balls to do it as of yet, so we continue to bicker amongst ourselves, in my opinion the cause is already lost. Although as previously stated, this very forum my be one of the contributing factors to Elan's fundamental changes in concept. As Lexa has stated we both speak to current Elan staff and the place is very different these days. I am very sorry for those of you who got put there in the 80's, what can be done to help you?

I simply made the statement that I think your a woman, not to disparage you in any way, as a matter of fact there was no negative element in that sentence at all. I also said nothing about your sexuality, only gender. Considering the torture and suffering that goes on around the World, I'm just saying I think that washing the floor and screaming at each other isn't all that bad by comparison. Good job on your Myspace research, both of us only posted thread topics a few days ago that we were in Elan together at the same time. Perhaps we both feel we have better things to talk to everyone about Elan, than constant ART/Dave/NAZI/Who ever childish back and forth krap. Thats all I'm saying.

As far as Hyde goes, I have never been there and no nothing about it. Thats why I'm not posting in the "hyde" forum. I was at Elan thats why I choose to talk about Elan, not some place else.

Interesting that you should mention that, Tag.  Two kids tried to burn Hyde down during the summer of 1975.  Part of my time, yes, although I was not present during the particular moment of incineration.  The two blokes got sent away somewhere else after that, not exactly sure where, probably some serious lockdown.  But the act did not succeed in closing the place.

And Hidden Lake Academy just had a mysterious fire about a month ago.  And that doesn't seem to have worked, either, although it is rather unclear as to who exactly set that fire.  You'd be amazed at the insurance specifics these places have!

That hasn't stopped others.  No need to be shy!   :D

Seriously, Tag, you should try perusing other Fora around here some more.  Once you get past the idiomatic cliche's that all these places use to personalize their particular shitpit, er... institution, it's amazing how similar certain themes are.  I suspect you and I might disagree with regard to certain elements of the current Elan, and that's okay too.  I respect your opinion.

Okay, so tell me this:  how do you think the administration of the current Elan should deal with the psychological carnage it wrought back in its early days?  Should Elan be morally absolved from its past, or should it be held accountable?  Does the current Elan even acknowledge the shit that went down?

If you were a student of Hyde School in 1975 then you are half in the box already. Are you going to pursue these fruitless ventures well into your retirement? I have no need read any other school forums on Fornits as I never attended any of these other programs and I am very confident that although they may seem similar to Elan, they are in fact not.

I feel that the issues of Elan's past have been resolved by the new, more acceptable path that the program of today seems to  be following.  "Psychological carnage", thats pretty rediculous, its seems to me it went two ways: one, you were an ass, and consequently treated as such, two you did the right thing and were rewarded.

Phil died due to a pre-exisiting medical condition. I was in the ring myself on the good side and believe me it is very hard to inflict damage with rediculously over-sized boxing gloves and head gear.

I highly doubt anyone was made to "live in a dumpster, shackled to it". If they were, good maybe they deserved it. I saw some pretty shitty kids in Elan in my brief 18 months there.

As far as the psychological mind fuck by staff, I just ignored it as I think anyone with half of a brain in there, when I was, did themselves.

Perhaps to the spoiled brat used to all the finer things in life , Elan was a huge wake up call. But, for others like me who had been in much worse, Elan was a welcome change for the better. Now they have a nationally ranked track and field team. This statement alone should convince you just how different it is now.

Most of the shitty staff who worked there, after they graduated as students, are so old now their time left is limited.

There current student population is now almost twice what it was when I was there, that alone speaks volumes. Even with this website and others like it, parents are sending their shitty little offspring there in record numbers.

In my most humble opinion, when the whole latch key kid era started, it was the begining of the end. Without proper parental care and involvement, we can expect to see a lot more children ending up in Elan. I say this as a former latch key kid and a now soon to be parent.

And no Ursus not enough smiles.

Felice I will personally drive to WI tonight just to watch you attack me physically. Be nice, you are far to sexy to be that angry.

Oh... the "kinder, gentler formula of thought reform?"  Thought reform is a funny thing, Tag, some people do seem to tolerate it better than others.  And yet, to some pure souls, it is a real anathema.  It also would appear to be at odds with certain elements of our constitution, but I'm probably overreaching myself for the moment on that one.

Quote from: ""Toetag Inc.""
"Psychological carnage", thats pretty rediculous, its seems to me it went two ways: one, you were an ass, and consequently treated as such, two you did the right thing and were rewarded.
And just who made that judgment call as to what was "the right thing?"  From what I've read here it seems that there were an awful lot of people who were treated like asses for the simple crime of not being compliant with expectations.  And what exactly was the "reward" for falling in line?

Quote from: ""Toetag Inc.""

Can't pass judgment on the initial part of the scenario.  Brain aneurysms sometimes burst for seemingly inexplicable reasons, although any kind of "boxing" would fall into a suspiciously grey area of potential cause.  Nonetheless, where Elan was unquestionably negligent in was their failure to seek appropriate medical attention in the aftermath.  That might well have saved Phil's life.

There are more student profiles than just spoiled brats and savvy seen-it-alls.  I'm glad you were able to put the psychological mind fuck in its proper perspective and to work the system to your advantage, but not everyone has such good survival instincts such as yourself.  Some kids enter such a hornet's nest completely unprepared and ill-versed in the means of manipulating the psycho mumbo-jumbo in a manner where they might come out on top, let alone side-step being creamed.  What happened to them?  Not as simple as whether they had half a brain or not.  Their life experience simply did not prepare them for this.

Quote from: ""Toetag Inc.""

Do you think this is due to the "changed" Elan, or perhaps due to other changes in the "Troubled Teen Industry" at large?  Enrollment in Industry Institutions has increased vastly in excess of two-fold in the past twenty years.  I'd say it was closer to ten-fold, and might even be more than that.

Quote from: ""Toetag Inc.""

I sure do agree with you there, but it doesn't look like the current US work culture will change anytime soon.  Most families need two working adults to make ends meet these days, if they can even make those ends meet, let alone the circumstances facing the rising number of single parent families.

Congrats on your soon to be changed status!  When is the approximate date of expectation? ::cheers::

Priceless, Tag!  My typo, meant to say "blink," but your contributions were way more interesting!  By the way, the Swiss-German version of "blick" would have sufficed, meaning look/view, close enough to blink, at least as far as involvement of the eye is concerned!

Do supply a link to "Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary," I do like dictionaries.  My usual choice is Merriam-Webster's, it must have one of the shortest website addresses around:  http://www.m-w.com/

For anyone that is interested in the source of the remainder of Tag's "BLICK" post, check out one of my old favorites:
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=blick

Thanks for that priceless post!
