Post Your Opinions about Hyde School on Prominent website
« on: May 02, 2007, 07:47:51 AM »
I just did a Google search for information on the Hyde School.  A very prominent website comes up on the first Google page.  This link takes you to "letters to the editor" about Hyde submitted to a website, www.strugglingteens.com which, I gather, is perhaps the most visited website on the internet when people look for information on programs for troubled teens.

When you read the handful of letters about Hyde you'll see a mix of positive and negative reviews.  So, it seems that this website is quite willing to post responsibly written opinions, whether "for" or "against" Hyde.

This is a very important and valuable opportunity for people to express their opinions about Hyde and provide information to parents who are thinking about sending their kid to Hyde.  I strongly recommend that people who have something important to say take advantage of this very visible outlet.  Here's the page that invites you to submit your commentary:  http://www.strugglingteens.com/news/let ... index.html

Obviously, the best way to get your opinion posted here is to write in a responsible manner.

This is a very good idea and would be a service to many parents who are trying to find a good school.

This is a wonderful suggestion.  I hope people who want to share their Hyde experiences will take advantage of this important outlet.  This is a service to those parents who are trying to figure out what to do next in their efforts to find the right school.

They actually have staff with clinical background.   I spoke to a staff member this winter. She had a degree in Psychology and her interest was youth behaviour problems.   A lot different then the staff at hyde when I was there.  One guys story of how he became an instructor at Hyde from the period I was there:

"I was driving a fish truck on High St so I stopped in to see what Hyde was about"

I guess Hyde thought he was qualified because he demonstrated one of the five words.

What did he teach?  The name doesn't ring a bell.  I'd probably recognize him though...

Lucky you that you didn't have the trauma some of us experienced  at Hyde.  Do you remember Hyde encouraging us to step up to the plate and to make a difference in this world?  I was taught not to be afraid to confront. Well wiseguy, we are doing exactly what Hyde challenged us to do......trying to make a difference in this world by warning people about Hyde!!

Hyde seems to be very good at confronting students and parents who dare to confront Hyde after Hyde has taught all of us about how important it is to confront wrongdoing, like the kind that occurs at Hyde.
