Segregation of Sexes in Program.

Does isolating a teenager, for years, from the opposite sex have any effect on their sexual development or social abilities after they leave?

That's a heavy question but one I've been considering too, so I'm glad you ask.  In $tr8 we weren't even supposed to look at girls, which was of course impossible.  I was 16 when I went in and there were some really cute bad girls in there.  The only time we were allowed to look at a girl was if she was talkin in group, in which case we were required to pay attention and would likely be restrained if we didn't.  $tr8 repressed our nature; made us sick with their  perversions.  Made us feel guilty and ashamed of our natural ways.  What a gang 'a' sick fucks who kept us so isolated all that time.  They are insecure fearful and weak.  Building illusions of security in vain attempts to secure themselves in a world of suffering and death.  

They saw us, and their illusions were threatened.  Their fear of what we could become gripped them and so they acted on their desperate and  cowardly thoughts and took everything from us and stripped us and dehumanized us and raped our minds until we were quiet and willing slaves.  They inflicted us with their own fears, fears I had never known before.

Yeah, really, growin up is confusing enough as it is, let alone in a cultic environment of sexual repression.  I would say there are definate repercussions.  Not to mention all the other social repercussions that are caused by months and years of isolation and psychological duress.

I think this is an important subject.

I mean there we were.  Isolated in such a severe way from each other,and especially from the opposite sex, and even separated from ourselves.  All the things that we all needed so badly were taken from us: contact with those we loved.  We were entirely isolated and made to repress all our natural inclinations.  And in the middle of all this deprivation, these beautiful martyred young women, who'd been stripped of everything and who were so enobled, would stand up and movingly tell some shameful story full of incredibly arousing visions...

This thread just brought up something sort of related that I'd forgotten. In this one girls' rap, the topic was masturbation. We were made to tell "incidents" related to the topic - usually supposed to be drug/alcohol related, but w/ this particular topic, it didn't matter. Anyway, the chosen story was this one girl's description of how she used to be so proud of masturbation and being able to bring herself to orgasm and now she knew how wrong and "deviant" that was. She explicitly stated how she realized that she was not worth loving, therefore masturbation was perverse. She was excessively praised for whatever that was, she made step one soon after.

That was fucked....

I have a couple thoughts on this.  

Initially I thought the separation was a good thing.  Many girls (especially) have body image issues thanks in part to our lookism culture.  My daughter actually found being separated from boys liberating.  She didn't feel the constant pressure to look a certain way.  She was able to put her hair in a pony tail, forgo makeup and wear her comfy loose fitting jeans ... because she wasn't feeling that pressure to 'present' herself in a certain way every day.

However, I have read studies that indicate that when males and females are separated for long periods of time, they will express them selves sexually with the same sex.  Happens in prisons, TBS's, etc.  Happened in my daughters school.  Girls would come in straight, and because they were isolated from males and all 'normal' opportunity to express their sexuality, they would turn to the another girl.  I don't believe most of these girls were gay or bisexual.  I believe the isolation further confused them.  So in that regard, separation was very unhealthy.  

Interesting question.

Actually even at normal single sexed boarding school girls who Identify as straigh will sometimes experiment. To some extent it is a comfort thing

Can't suppress the forces of nature. I too have heard about this in TBSs, and not just with the girls.

Rumors of program induced homosexuality, IMO, are greatly exaggerated. For some odd reason this seems to be a fear of many parents though.   :oops:
