  • Were you fully informed of your rights, rights limitations, and responsibilities?
  • Were you able to freely voice grievances or report abuse                            to the facility staff, or an outside
representative of your choice without fear of restraint, interference, coercion, discrimination, or reprisal?
  • Did PV assist you in exercising your rights? (I know, I know.. bare with me)
  • Were you allowed to send mail unopened or have any unmonitored phone calls with family?
  •  Were you allowed to associate and communicate freely and/or privately with persons of your choice
including receiving visitors at reasonable hours? If not, what was the reason given to you or listed in
    your file?

  • Did you experience or witness any verbal, emotional, or physical abuse?
  •  Would you say that any abuses experienced or witnessed were isolated events, or do you feel that  any
abuses experienced or witnessed were institutional and part of the program?

  • Did PV setup a service plan specifically for you or was it a one size fits all kinda thing?

I'll have more later....

Also register I want to send you a PM...

Re: RESPONSE TO PV QUESTIONS

Quote from: ""DieYuppieScum""
I was at PV for 13 months and two other rehab centers as well... over all I was away for 5 years
I will answer the questions the person above has asked

6) Under what circumstances could school be denied?
If you were sick, or in the burrito (straitjacket) or the time out room.

Interesting you refer to it as the "burrito"...I read about the burrito online (on the blog of another PV survivor) and when I asked PV clinicians about the burrito they laughed and acted as though they did not know what I was talking about. Is it possible that this is a term used only among lower level staff?

Boy this is an odd site, seems all calm and almost pro PV?  HMMMMM what bull nothing strange here, no PV damage control
oh my God, we have to make them think we aren't Nazis
quick get online and talk about school and "a light in the forest"
make it sound like normal stuff
kids angry at boot camp,
not sadistic undereducated Nazi freaks torturing thirteen year olds
"die yuppie scum?"  What's up?
Now what "guest" wrote sounds more accurate.
Give up, the true stories, like PTS girl being restrained 16 times a week and left in a bed net to rot on thorazine for nothing
that's PV
not this happy "just like Tom Sawyer"
pile of crap
real PV people have already posted enough stuff give up
Guest pops on
PV is the devil the devil I hate you the devil ahhhhhhh
right after you fools try to talk about "tom sawyer" and a
"light in the forest"
this ain't going to work,
now that the internet age is here to stay, cover of TIME magazine says
Guests are always going to be popping up talking like, well like Guest,
like PV is what it is, you can't disguise the truth
people can't make stuff this accurate and  in depth up.
As long as real PV teens keep posting
 this stupid tactic is done.

Dear Guest
you are the coolest person ever,  I hope everything you do in life goes perfect for you.  I hope you have a mansion  with a pool in the nicest city ever on the beach, I am so glad to hear you voice saying what PV really is.  And I am so glad you are doing well despite what those pigs do to people.  I'm always so afraid people out of PV won't make it.  Bless you   :D  8-)   I am so glad to hear that PV didn't kill people and we are stong and happy inspite of them.
Don't talk to the people on this site, there is something wrong with the!  Go read the other thread, it gets really bad!!  They beat the hell out of this girl PV style.  Give you flash backs, I'm sorry. Don't look.  Just don't talk to these people or give them you address

Were you fully informed of your rights, rights limitations, and responsibilities?

Any rights we had were "restricted" That is honestly the term they used for it. They restrict your right to recieve mail, the right to hold on to a valid form of I.D., the right to speak to any type of attorney or AA/NA sponser, even your own family. They inform you on your "rights" via video tape on your second or third day of STU

Were you able to freely voice grievances or report abuse to the facility staff, or an outside
representative of your choice without fear of restraint, interference, coercion, discrimination, or reprisal?

No, can't get any more clear then that.

Did PV assist you in exercising your rights? (I know, I know.. bare with me)

See the above

Were you allowed to send mail unopened or have any unmonitored phone calls with family?

You could send mail but it had to be approved by staff and you could only make an unmonitored call if you were a bear level or higher.... but that was still loosely monitored

Were you allowed to associate and communicate freely and/or privately with persons of your choice
including receiving visitors at reasonable hours? If not, what was the reason given to you or listed in
your file? Only your parents could visit you and that had to be approved by your therapist. Occasionaly your siblings could come too

Did you experience or witness any verbal, emotional, or physical abuse?

Many counts

Would you say that any abuses experienced or witnessed were isolated events, or do you feel that any
abuses experienced or witnessed were institutional and part of the program?

A mix of both really. Staff could be vindicitive... some did it as revenge, some did it because they liked to feel as if they had power

Did PV setup a service plan specifically for you or was it a one size fits all kinda thing? What kind of serveice are you refering to?

By service plan I think the sort of treatment you recieved via the "Therapists".

What sort of therapy was the norm at PV?

Was it all group therapy, or was it a mix of individual therapy and group therapy?

What sort of level system did you have?

Explain each level and how you achieved them please.

Who determined you gained a level and what was the decision an objective decision based on observed facts or a subjective decision base on the instincts of the staff?

As an on-topic aside, I got banned from "Camp Peninsula Village" on Facebook.  I asked what happened at the retreat, if they got restrained and put in burritos, or if they all shared a few spikes of Klonopine for old times sake.  Some wealthy alumnus (they all have rich girl names) asked "Uh, dude?  Did you, like, go to PV, even?"  I said "Yeah, I'm Andy Klepper, the homerun kid," and I made some remarks about them being mascots, and they were a bold bunch for risking E.Coli infection by bunking so near the porta-shats.  The last word came when some Muffy mewled, "Dude, you seem like, really bitter, and maybe you should rant elsewhere, k?"  I defended my right to rant, and damn, they ejected me, Mr. Botwa Mofutu, from the ranks of the Honored PV Alumni.  Ain't that a bitch?

Thanks for responding I can tell you for sure that Peninsula Village unlawfully restricted your rights. This isn't a hunch....

So they video taped themselves informing you of your rights... Could you get a copy of this tape with your records? Have you ever tried to get your records from Peninsula Village? Others have told me that it's almost impossible considering the hoops they make you jump through.

The "reasonable cost" of having PV retrieve and send the files is unreasonable.  One former patient was asking for her records, was told she could have "limited selections" and the fee was just under $300.  That's a lot of money to shell out for files you can expect to see about three weeks after your request, if they acknowledge you.  That's a lot of time for PV to pick and choose info and "misplace" the parts that could leave the program legally exposed.  I'm not saying they would, but it's possible.

I looked at the camp peninsula thing and apparently that is a whole other ball of wax... while the program IS on the same grounds it is NOT a rehab program... they do not have the same experiences or punishments we did because it is a day camp. So thats why the kids you spoke to do not recognise what you are talking about
