Hi Clay -

This is thea.  I was just curious to your recent statement about atlanta not being that abusive.  Fairly sure I was there after you. I am not Jumping here, just asking.  Maybe it is all in the perception of what abuse is.  Dicatating when another person can take a piss, and then watching them, thats abusive to me.  Watching people get slammed on the floor, seeing blood fly (literally), bones broken, black eyes, food deprivation (that one depended on which host home i got stuck in) being told daily i was a druggie whore..etc.  All of that chalks up to abuse to me, and hell thats just what i saw in my short stay.

I was in both St pete and ATL.  From 1980 to 1982 I can say Atlanta was bad.  I can say that compared to the 14 months I spent in St Pete made Atlanta feel like Club Med.
The Foster homes in Atlanta were much nicer, generally wealthier, although many in St Pete/Tampa were LOADED too.  The group was louder, hotter and more vicious with Newton in the mix terrorizing both staff, parents, and kids. The St Pete group had 2 or 3 times as many steamy bodies, and physical fighting was WAY more likely.  Serious retribution was too.
Atlanta for me was more mental, lonely, and thank god, had some truly decent families involved.

I remember hearing St Pete horror stories while i was there.  I am just saying atlanta was far FAR from being a country club.

Given a choice between St. Pete and Cincinati.  I'll take Cincinnati any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

The food was better the atmosphere was better and my Oldcomer was and still is a true friend.

If I had it to do all over again. Thank you....NO

I was just comparing what I had heard from the otehr straights. ATL is not as it was has given me nightmares some 20 odd years later. What I heard of St. Pete was much worse. If you remember, I did qualify my statement. For Straight, ATL I do not think was as bad as the rest.

Clay, that may very well be true (atlanta may not have been as bad as the rest)

however, i would think to make that a true statement one would have had to have been thru each program in every location to know for certain.  Besides, i think to say it wasn't that bad could only be based on the individual...

Hmmm, let's see, there are three peoplesaying pretty much the same thing. None of the straights were as bad as St. Pete. Perhaps I am guilty of a hasty generalazation. Perhaps not.
