Schools in Preston have welcomed the idea of fingerprinting pupils at lunchtime.
Lancashire County Commercial Services are looking to take the project to schools across Lancashire following successful trials in West Lancashire.
It works by allowing pupils to pay for their lunches by putting their fingers on a fingerprint reader instead of carrying cash round with them.
The healthier the food they choose the more points they receive.
Human rights campaigners criticised the move, saying it was "totally unnecessary" to fingerprint children to get them to eat healthily.
But schools today said the system would work "brilliantly." Several are vowing to investigate taking up the systems in the near future.
Liz Laverty, headteacher at Walton-le-Dale Arts College, said: "We are investigating this fingerprint technology and we are hoping to move to a cashless system in the future. It can also give a print out to allow parents to see what their children are eating."
