What's news? Journalist could use some leads
« on: November 30, 2006, 10:50:34 AM »
Hey, this is John Gorenfeld, I did a story a while back about WWASPS. I'm looking around for troubled teen industry stories. If anyone has one, drop me a line, john@gorenfeld.net.

I read the article about WWASPS at Alternet website, and I thought it was well done. This is coming from someone who was locked up in a wwasps facility a while back. A lot of info comes up at the "spring creekers" myspace group which you can view by searching for. there are also other groups for other facilities.

Some things i've noticed posted at the group that got my attention:

a family rep named darcy has been publically accused of having sex with at least one (and the poster implied several) underage students while they were at spring creek lodge. the group leader removed the thread containing this information but it was up for a while. the former student suggested he was seeking advice from an attorney and wanted to bring her to justice. she deleted her myspace page after this accusation came to light, she was keeping in contact with former students. sexual predator as a family rep at scl?  im sure you can find out more if you get in contact with the poster.

another studnet posted that there are only 200 and soething kids now at scl when before there was over 500. maybe your article had somethign to do with this?  :D

thanks for the good work you do.

Hey John.  How goes it?  I was on one of your call-ins about Straight.  There's plenty around.  I hope people contact you.

This guy's legit.  Ask Ginger or anyone else who's been around for a while if you don't want to trust me being anon...and I understand that.

John, check out the HLA forum.  Apparently there's been lawsuits filed and a raid by authorities on the place.

Did you see this?  The online version doesn't do it justice.  It was the top half of the front page and the entire inside back page.  I had no idea it was coming out and when I opened my paper that morning I fell out of my chair.

John, this is clearly one of the biggest events unfolding in the industry.  It has wide-ranging implications for both HLA and NATSAP, it's umbrella group created and funded by the owner of HLA, Len Buccellato.  HLA and NATSAP have systematically defrauded families and covered up abuse of kids.  It's all coming out right now in fits and starts, but the time is ripe to get the scoop.

HLA and Ridge Creek (also owned by Buccellato) have both recently been "raided" by CPS/DHS.

This is a hot one.  Let's set to work.
