Here's some more info about staffing cuts.  The housekeeping staff allegedly has been done away with like the security staff.  Their services have been farmed out to a vendor.

This, in and of itself, is not a huge deal under normal circumstances, but in this case, it could be disasterous.

Why?  Because the vendor's employees cannot be adequately vetted to work in this environment.  They could be pedophiles, drug dealers, rapists (extreme cases, I know) or just unfit to interact with the kids on any level.  My point is that HLA is now introducing yet another variable into an already unsafe and unpredictable environment/population.

Anyone remember the kitchen foodservice company Sage? They were the ones who used to supply the food servers. Then HLA couldn't pay them, and they just left. Now they have Southern Foodservice. History has a strange way of repeating itself...

Or, better yet, regular Fornits readers.

It's a fact night security and housekeeping have been laid off. Night security works until Janurary 2 2007. Housekeeping is no longer employed by HLA.

Are they hiring a Security Service, as was reported? And who will do housekeeping? Will that become part of restrictions duties?

yes, they hired security.  word has it that it won't last long, as the bill will very likely go unpaid (right now i think they are 90 days same as cash) because all of the pre-paid tuition they pushed for recently has all been spent and also some of those pre-paids are withdrawing and not getting refunds due to the aforementioned brokeness.

housekeeping staff was let go monday, reportedly replaced with "all mexicans" from a cleaning company.  same deal with payment i suppose.  both of these vendors are likely to go the way of the food service people who waved bye-bye to hla long ago over unpaid bills

I wonder if the security and housekeeping companies really know about HLA's financial woes?

Oh what a shame it would be if someone were to, say, tell them.

But really, would anyone who reads this board do such a thing?

(These financial tidbits should be a moot point though, considering HLA has DHR firmly up its ass.)

Next thing you know HLA will be staffed with only illegal immigrants. Its all the Buch will be able to afford. Of course they wont really be illegal, they'll just be advertised as international.

Students who do not speak Spanish will be placed on restriction for manipulating.

Parents expect a forthcoming call from your childs new counselor Juan Garcia Lopez. He earned his M.A. in Family Therapy from the University of Technocilan

Hence forth I will be known only as "Nostradamus di Fornits".

Oh,you'll like this: they are being asked to take unpaid leave/vacation/sick days during the Christmas break.I guess they can't wait to get rid of them .If DHR takes an air sample,it could get very interesting! The resident skunk @ dorm A lives in the attic space now,and is setting off the alarm constantly.Well, four weeks and counting...

Here's some interesting news...

Beginning January 1st, the teachers will be coming to campus at 6:30am for morning wake-up in the dorms.  This is reportedly in exchange for NOT reducing their pay.

This makes things interesting.  It is my understanding that, under labor laws in GA (and Fed I think), that since the teachers were not given pay cuts, but rather given extra duties, that the pay cuts for OTHER employees become illegal.

If your pay was cut at HLA, I strongly recommend that you contact the proper authorities in GA and the NLRB (National Labor Relations Board).  You probably have a case.
