This is right up their alley.  If they can't help they can at least advise her on what her options are.

In case you haven't noticed, the only place the EFF has been really effective is in Europe where the politicians keep their dicks in thier mistresses, and out of lobbyists mouthes.

Actually, EFF has been very successful and it would not be a bad idea at all for Bock to contact them to discuss her situation.  Knowledge is power.

The other suggestion from anon is also excellent:

Perhaps one of these orgs. can help with an appeal?

i'm sorry.  i just don't think the EFF is the one to handle this.  The ACLU on the other hand, could be of use.  "Civil liberties" is their forté.  The EFF is often consulted anyway but for the most part are underfunded, understaffed, and underequipped to deal with larger opponents.  They're great with activism, but legal action is what is needed here.  The ACLU would love to have a test case like this.

In other words, if if you could find this at "your rights online" on slashdot, i would agree, EFF would be the right tool for the job.

Carey, I really hope you're reading, for a couple of reasons. First, you should know that most people realize what a raw deal you got.  Even those of us who didn't get along with you when you were here understand now how devastating this has been and how wrong it was.  I'm sorry this happened.  Second, I really hope you contact that professor and the ACLU.  I think there really may be some atty out there who would be interested in taking this on pro bono.  Free speech rights is a huge issue.  If this went back into court Sue would most probably be revealed for the slime she is.  This could go a long way towards shedding the light on this under-reported malignant industry and its  offshoots.  This is wrong no matter how you slice it and with free speech being such a big deal nowadays I really think you'd be able to find someone to help you navigate your way through this mess.

I hope you and your boys are doing better and I wish you well.

I'm just waiting for the other shoe to drop.  This verdict has opened up a can of worms  because already, people are doing their own research on the web.  I've seen some posts on other boards where people claim they googled Scheff's  name and discovered some controversy involving allegations of abuse leveled against a school Scheff allegedly referred to (that would be Whitmore, I presume?)  Second, the collective attention span of Americans is what ... 10 minutes?  Even CAICA nominating Scheff for the honor of Advocate of the Month doesn't seem to be getting any real attention.  Why? Because it's rather hollow too, IMO.  CAICA is one person.  Isabelle Zehnder ... who freely admits Scheff is her friend and colleague.

It's hitting other boards because of the free speech issue and it's getting people talking.
