I was in Straight for quite some time until I bullshitted my way to second phase and eventually busted out. I was caught once for escaping with a kid named Danny McCarty, anyone remember him? He had a sister in there, too, Jen? I had very long hair at the time, before they cut it all off and cut me behind the ear with the shears. I remember some names but mostly faces. I can recall some names, Peter Burke the rebel, Nathan Britton, Marty Devaney, Glenn Jenkins (who recently committed suicide), Drew Zuik, Jeremy (his dad owned a D'Angelo sub shop), and there was a red haired staff member, Sherri? There was another staff member, Rob. I'm from Leominster, another boy, Jeff Vachon, who was also from Leominster was in Straight. He recently lost his arm in a drunk driving accident. Is there anybody out there who remembers some of these poeple?

Wow I can't believe I found this site- I was in Str8 from 86-88 I believe in Stoughton- Drew Zuik copped out from my house once in Plymouth- Sherri maybe sherri watson from down the cape and Rob Bisonette I believe was from Leominster and on staff-

I got to straight in 1990 (stayed til 92) and I remember all the names you just mention. I don't know if your aware but Peter Burker was murdered a few years back. Here are some others that passed on you might remember.

Rob Sawyer ? Murdered

Jason Layne ? Drunk Driving

Glenn Junkins ? Suicide

Brad Everland ? OD

Alec Monte ? OD

Peter Burke ? Murdered

Hey, I was there from 89-90. I remember Jen LeBow, Garrett Lahan, I remember a brother and sister in there.. They were blondes.. I wanna say her name was Jessica and his Billy. I don't remember last names so well, but I remember Jeremy and Nathan - brothers who were transferred from the Virginia Straight, Karen, Robin, Cathy Borgeson (5th phase staff) along with Tom Driscoll. Also two other brothers, Kevin and Kenny. Kenny I had heard slit his wrists in group and got sent to a psych hospital. (I say I heard because I was actually on T+R that day and came back right after it happened I guess.

Straight kept sending bills and she kept paying even after i was out and what they did and straight even kept my belongings claiming they couldnt find them. She made me continue to write moral inventory's for a couple days before placing me in another girls home for another year... I became quiet..it felt as if i forgot who i was(my personality)...I never even did much drugs when i went in..i explored as a teenager as most have. I never tried any heavy drugs..i basically just started smoking pot when friends had it... I ended up smoking more after these programs...I don't do anything now although i think every once in a blue moon how it would be nice to take a puff. I have alot of anxiety issues now. sore shoulders and back. I think alot stems back to straight. As well as relation ship issues ive had. I remember the how they made me strip down to nothing and do squats in a room with people (kids not much older then me) and when i had my period i was made to sit in it. I remember the flapping of the arms and the knuckles down my back. Being lead like a dog by the back of my pants onto a hard cement floor where i had to sit indian style on a nasty thin rug. Never being allowed to look around or read anything god forbid..asking and telling to do everything..even to pick up a damn fork..Making bogus stories up just to "relate" to people.I could write a damn list..having to hang my hands out of the shower and how i was timed in there.. how many strokes of a hairbrush..how simple we were made to look...people always with me even to take a piss.. Eating crappy food i hated only after i was finished with my moral inventory and being alarmed in a bedroom that was basically empty..I remember praying at night for gods mercy. One house i actually got to read a paragraph or two of a bible. I am not sure why i had this permission but how it filled me with hope to carry on another day...i remember being yelled at alot...how dare i say this or that and i should be ashamed of myself... im a druggie with a druggie past blah blah blah..I remember some of the weird stories i heard in there about some guy blowing himself on a train track and with a vaccumme. Why that needed to be expressed is beyond me. I don't know what the hell that had to do with the "program". I remember people being pinned to the floor ,sat on etc. I remeber that stupid fricken straight song they made us sing..."I am straight..I am an arrow..." Nothing like standing in front of a bunch of strangers and being humilated to brighten my day. Well i guess i'll cut this now before i write a book..im rambling now... Yeah its been about 19 yrs and its about time i tryed to connect or chat with someone who could actually "relate." I also remeber a Lori..does that ring a bell with anyone?
If i knew how to id post a pic of myself around that time...

Wow. That sucks about Pete Burke. His mom used to make the best Chocolate Chip pancakes before we went in to that fuckin slice of hell airplane hanger
to get emotionally blackmailed for 16 hours at a time. I remember every last person in that joint....All the way to the Admin. I WISH I could find

Being abused in your youth often creates broken people who seek out abusive people in their adulthood. Not to mention, being driven to state of mental derangement creates people who cannot remove themselves from dangerous situations, for various reasons.

Who were they murdered by? Were any of these people truly addicts going into straight?
