I am one who has been on this site defending HLA on many occasions because I have seen the good that goes on at HLA, not just the bad.  There really are kids who get help there and many of you have acknowledged that.  That being said, the one thing that I have never defended on this site is the way Len Buccellato runs the school.  He took something that could have been very good and special, and turned it into something shameful.  I have read most of this complaint and have yet to find a single issue that I can argue with.  Unqualified teachers and counselors, no special ed teacher for a period of time, unqualified or no nurses, AC's giving out meds, inappropriate kids being enrolled, "all inclusive" tuition, overcharging toiletries, the missing chapel fund, not being regulated by the state, ect...

All of these are issues that, in my opinion, are absolutely correct in the complaint.  These are also issues that MANY of the employees have been talking about eventually catching up to Dr. Buccellato for years.

The same issues parents have raised year after year, too. Looks like it finally caught up with him.
